So White means American now? Asduming that everybody else has to accept your inherent conflict into their mindset too is ... quite imperialistic, you know.

hmm. I’m not really sure how that post translated to “white = american” for you.

the post was a critique of white feminism, which “...focuses on the struggles of white women while failing to address distinct forms of oppression faced by women of color and women lacking other privileges.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_feminism) (the wikipedia explanation was more succinct than my own attempt ;-) )

I am american, so of course I and my blog have more of an american focus. however, I have lived internationally, so I am aware that racism and feminism take different forms outside of the US. you are free to add your own perspectives on your own blog.

I support POC, especially WOC, Trans people, Queer people of all types (including non binary, pan, ace), Jewish people, people with disabilities (visible or non-visible), and anyone else who has been traditionally subjugated in favor of the white, male majority in the US, and I intend for my blog to reflect that support.

also, quite frankly, I don’t need anyone policing what I can and can’t put on my own blog, which the tone of your response seems to do.

Brienne/Pod/Sandor brainstorming?

“I don’t know,” Pod’s voice is clipped.  “I don’t know.  I don’t have anything to back it up.  There are no hard facts.  Period.”

“But you’re still sure.”  Brienne sounds tired.  They are all tired.  They’ve been sitting here for the past three hours, and they’ve made no headway.  None.  

“Yes,” Pod says.

“Because the little bird got a look on her face when talking about her mother,” Sandor snorts.  “Maybe she’s a bad liar.”

“No--it wasn’t a lie,” Pod says.  “Look, whenever she talks about Pansy Stone,” He jabs at the manila folder that’s full of Pansy Stone’s information--her birth and death certificate, even proof of some hospital visits she’d made while pregnant at the right time for her to be Alayne Stone’s mother.  “She gets this look on her face.  Like she’s in a war zone, or something.  Her face gets hard, her voice gets hard.  Like you’d better not ask her questions about it. A ‘you can’t handle the truth’ kind of thing.  Every time.”

“Of course.  If her mother was abusive--”

“But this time,” Pod hates talking over Brienne.  Hates it.  Brienne gets talked over enough by Sandor, but he wasn’t done with his point, and he knows what Brienne’s going to say.  “Her voice was soft, her face was soft.  She was remembering getting ice cream and playing dress up and she never remembers anything good about Pansy Stone.”

“So you’re running off a hunch,” Sandor says.

“Instinct,” Brienne corrects.

“Hunch.  Instinct.  Whatever.  This case explodes if we do it wrong, and do you really want Lannister up our ass about it?”

“I know that,” Brienne says at the same time Pod says, “Look--I’m still working on it, ok?  I am.”

“Yeah,” Sandor snorts.  “You are.”

Pod glares at him.  “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“You get all starry-eyed whenever you talk about her.  You think she’s some damsel in distress who’ll fall into your arms when you rescue her?”

“Do you?” Pod snaps.  “That’s the first time anyone’s brought that up, Sandor.”

Sandor starts to growl, leaning forward in his seat.  “All right,” Brienne says.  “I’m calling it done for the day.  Meet up again tomorrow afternoon.”

“Can’t,” Pod says.  “Told Alayne I’d meet her after she’s finished her studio time.”

Sandor gives him a look.  Shut up, Pod thinks angrily.  Shut up shut up shut up.  He doesn’t like it when Sandor’s like this.  Or rather, he doesn’t like it when Sandor’s like this with him.  Sandor’s got an eye for this shit.  I know, all right?  he wants to yell.  I know I care too much.

“Sometimes I still remember putting on her dresses and jewelry and she’d tell me I was more beautiful than she could ever be,” Alayne had said.  No.  Not Alayne.

Sansa.  Sansa had said that.

You’re right, I forgot about that.

Shae, her name was Shae. They had last spoken the night before the dwarf's trial by combat, after that smiling Dornish snake offered to champion him. Shae had been asking about some jewels Tyrion had given her, and certain promises Cersei might have made, a manse in the city and a knight to marry her. The queen made it plain that the whore would have nothing of her until she told them where Sansa Stark had gone. "You were her maid. Do you expect me to believe that you knew nothing of her plans?" she had said. Shae left in tears.

It seems that Cersei promised compensation for Shae and then went back on it when Shae couldn’t tell her where Sansa was, because of course Shae doesn’t know. We don’t know what Cersei might have done to her if she refused to testify against Tyrion, or if Cersei decided that Shae was lying to her about not knowing where Sansa was. We really don’t know enough about Shae’s motivation here. She leaves in tears, and note that she was also crying during Tyrion’s trial. Was she crying for Tyrion? Because she didn’t get her jewels? Because she feared for her life? We don’t know. I think we can assume that her position isn’t a great one, though. Worst case scenario she is imprisoned, tortured, or murdered by Cersei or Tywin. Best case scenario she is allowed to live but without the jewels and protection Tyrion gave her, which is basically the equivalent of turning her out on the street. I really can’t blame her for trying to better her position, because it also means protecting herself.

bit at the end about the spoiler - tbh I wasn’t very happy about reblogging this post because it was so much about the show (which idgaf about critically anymore), but a number of people were coming into my personal askbox very upset over the spoiler and even more were very upset in their reblogs of post #1 from this list, and I felt like the message, “It probably won’t happen exactly like that in the books” was an important one. Still, I wouldn’t have reblogged this post if post #5 was around earlier for me to reblog.

 excellent post by dwwt discussing in detail the spoiler from future books and how it could occur, probably in a manner different from the show

compare/contrast post about Daznak’s pit - as I said earlier, I have little interest in show analysis anymore, but a mutual put it on my dashboard with tags that strongly recommended everyone read it. I found that amidst the show analysis was a nice discussion of Daenerys’s story in ADWD, specifically the pit scene, which isn’t something many people on tumblr talk about:

Dany’s arc is one where she navigates through a complex political situation in which she ends up making more and more moral concessions in the name of peace, to the point where she loses touch with herself. Her moment of realization about how wrong everything she’s done feels occurs in Daznak’s Pit, when suddenly the full weight of her decisions hits her. As she is troubled by the violence in the fighting ring, she tears off her tokar, the cultural and impractical garb of Meereenese nobles, and demands to leave, demonstrating a rejection of their values and traditions. Poetically, this is the moment that Drogon swoops down, solidifying Dany’s reconnection with who she is: Daenerys Targaryen, blood of the dragon. [source]

Personally, I would be happier if all of the show content were cut from these posts and I could just reblog pure ASOIAF content, but I find it’s kind of like content for asoiafedit, a strictly ASOIAF blog I help mod for. Even the best ASOIAF gifsets use footage from the show a lot. Even if you’re an ASOIAF fan who has never watched the show and all you want to blog about is fanart, beautiful artwork 100% free of the show’s influence is almost like a unicorn these days. 

The show remains a large part of ASOIAF fandom, unfortunately. It’s very hard to blog about ASOIAF as if the show never existed. That being said, all of those posts had multiple tags for blacklisting if you wanted to avoid them completely. 

I hope that this provides a satisfactory explanation as to why I found those posts relevant to A Song of Ice and Fire and why they were reblogged. I expect that more posts along these lines will be reblogged in the future.

I can say that IMO it was not Tyrion trash talking Dany, but Tyrion making attempt to converse with Jorah. I think the hate about the end episode is carrying over to other parts.

Oh, this wasn’t about people complaining, it’s that I’ve seen people praising Tyrion because they think Dany is incompetent/needs to be set straight. I’m complaining about fan reaction more than about what Tyrion says.
