the maid of tarth and her idiot
I know that some people think that is feminist and cool and dope to say that "BRIENNE IS NOT UGLY" but just born in a society in which her beauty is not appreciate, and to some extent it can be even true, but at same time it tremendously impoverishes her story.
Brienne's ugliness is not just a characterization choice, like for Selyse Florent, but it shapes the reality she lives in a similar way to Sandor's scars and Tyrion's deformities!
Brienne is not a knight because she always desired to live an adventurous life that will bring her glory and power nor because she wanted to defeat the patriarchal values that oppress the women of her time covering herself in the image of the skilled female knight that can be the doom of every man but because she wants to be that honorable hero that protect the fair maids and that she waited so long for and that she could never find because she was deemed as not good enough by her society. She dress herself with the shining splendor of that knights in her adored songs to be the saviour for all the fair ladies who needs it and most of all a saviour for the sweet singing lady that would have loved to full her father's house of grandsons that SHE once was.
Brienne wanted to be the kind of lady that Catelyn and Sansa are not Visenya or Nymeria are, and for this she tied her honor to serve one and save the other, but she never had the opportunity of being it exactly because of her external beauty does not match the internal one and deprive her of that aspect not only does not give any improvement to her story but it impoverishes it. A beautiful Brienne would have been a Sansa without Sansa's horrible experience in King's Landing that made her see the sufferences and the unfairness of life yet refusing to surrender to cynism and still belive in knighthood.
A beautiful Brienne would have been married to that moron that her father chose for her to give grandsons to her father and live a normal life for a woman of her times, without ever ask to herself who will protect those ladies that are in need when no knight around match those in stories and she is the only one refusing to surrender to cynism but still belive in knighthood.
I mean what chance do I have, truly? Oh, you have no chance.
And this is a fun sketch 😂😂 i had so much fun with it and it’s a bit rough and Brienne looks so slim but i like it. Idk i had a whole idea of drawing jaime in a dress and carried as a princess but i didn’t have the energy to do it 🫠💔
