Blaire sounds so interesting— what’s the world she in like? Is it normal for strange anthro creatures to be there or is her form more played as a reveal as the villian?
Also what musicals does she like agsjbdkdm
oh yeah no it is not normal for her to be a furry in the slightest
see, once upon a time there was this scientific research facility focused on finding various cures to different ailments, such as cancer or genetic conditions. It was called Helianus, based on a sunflower, because they're always looking to the light of the sun and the future. Very cool very demure
There were three scientists working there at the time, named Eric Keller, Henry Siloh, and Beatrice Mayweather, who I have drawn here after her polycule fell apart and all her friends died but that's for later
the three were fairly inseparable, with Henry and Beatrice being some of the best researchers at the facility. Beatrice especially was able to stumble across a compound that could reconstruct human DNA, but she was hesitant to try it on human subjects. On animal subjects, or showed some promise, but not without heavily altering the genetic makeup of the animal and turning them into a goopy mess that often dissolved into puddles weeks later. She named the compound FR-024-S and continued experimenting on it with Henry, who found it incredibly interesting.
Blaire was just an up and coming researcher when she went to grab something from a shelf in a dark room and accidentally knocked a couple vats of the stuff on top of her.
Some screaming and crying later and security finds her on her hands and knees, shaking, surrounded by shattered glass, and as a weird gazelle thing.
After making sure she wasn't about to bite anyone's head off, she was walked out and interviewed by staff, where the full extent of her transformation was made clear. She was healthier, for one, and also happier about her impromptu fursona, despite some lingering feelings of hunger. She also exhibited the ability to shapeshift parts of her body and, given that she had no injuries from the broken glass, was immune lacerations and bruising, which i'm sure won't come back to bite Helianus in the ass later.
Knowing this, Blaire was put back on as an assistant researcher to Beatrice as the facility put more energy into studying FR-024-S. Henry became more interested in the project, while Eric seemed slightly hesitant. Maybe it was the way that Blaire looked at everyone with hungry eyes that set him off. Oh well I'm sure this subtle foreshadowing doesn't mean anything.
(Henry receives a gift from Blaire at some point, and Eric makes a phone call.)
Several inhumane experiments later and a lot of regret buried under the idea that this was all going to a good cause, one of the experiments somehow escape (nobody has seen this one before hmmmm) and kills someone before escaping. The day after, Helianus conveniently finds out that Eric was leaking information to another company and ask Henry to deal with it, since it was him that found out Eric was doing it, after all.
Beatrice watched through a window as Eric contorted and turned into a small creature that didn't look at all similar to a human. There was nothing behind those beady eyes.
A week later, and the breach starts. Blaire had really tried to keep her cravings in check but girls gotta eat, and so do all of the other creatures she tricked Beatrice into making.
Security can stop it, and the only solution Helianus can see to stop the experiments from escaping is a full facility lockdown, trapping the creatures, Blaire, and any staff unfortunate enough to still be in the building inside, below the ground.
Henry goes missing. Beatrice hides in her office with a taser, the only thing she knows can hurt the experiments.
Blaire lets her live, taunting her through the window.
In the actual story and not this backstory, she's able to mimic people's voices, and your only communication with her is through a walkie talkie while she's pretending to be, so yeah i guess it's kind of a reveal. She'd only show up in person near the end methinks. anyways here's some art of her living her best life
her favorite musical is Chicago
