Ooh girl you know I'm making this some 1920's mob shit.
In this AU, Mornath and Heliodoro are musicians who perform at a speakeasy, and Lander is an undercover reporter for a newspaper called the Harper's Gazette.
Lander, in the process of getting in with the mob, finds himself at said speakeasy, and of course his jaw hits the floor when he sees Mornath on stage in a fancy dress. They grew up in the same town, and he's always had a crush on her, but seeing her in the employ of the mob, performing with another man whom she's clearly close with, breaks his heart. She sees him and is cold to him at first, assuming he's the same gang thug he was when he was a teen, just moving up in the world of thugs. Helio thinks Lander's going to start trouble with Mornath and threatens to bust him up, but when he makes it clear that he's a friend and he wants to help them leave this life, they let him in.
A dark, thrilling noir plot ensues where they are all forced to blur the lines of morality to get out from under the mob's thumb, and in the process, they become involved in a three way relationship that proves to be the only thing keeping them afloat in this dangerous world.
Also, there's a lot of really snappy suits and rolling up of sleeves.
