Action Stage 「Helios Rising Heroes」 -New Dawn- will be performed at Tokyo's Theatre G Rosso from 07/03 to 07/12 and at Kyoto Theater from 07/18 to 07/20. For this sixth installment of the series, we interviewed Seiya Inagaki (playing Keith Max), Yuya Asato (playing Dino Albani), and Ryoma Baba (playing Brad Beams). Their enthusiasm and reflections on the previous productions reveal their seamless chemistry, a 'miracle trio' that echoes their characters.
— At the time of this interview, rehearsals hadn't started yet. How are you feeling now, right before things officially kick off?
Inagaki: I don't want it to start.
Baba: Oh?
Asato: The opposite, huh.
Inagaki: I mean… once it starts, it'll eventually end, right? As the first day of rehearsals gets closer, I've started feeling like, "I don't want this to be over." Ever since THE WEST, I've been saying nonstop that I wanted to do New Dawn. And now the day has finally come. If we're doing it, I want it to be the best it can possibly be. But at the same time, I don't want it to end! I have so many mixed feelings.
Baba: Well, I want it to start!
Inagaki: Hey, you're making it sound like I'm the only one sulking here (laughs)!
Baba: No, no, I totally get how you feel. That's why for me it's more like, "Finally!", "At last!" It's been about two years since THE WEST, when the three of us first came together, and in the story I've been chasing Dino this whole time. If I had to compare it to something, it's like finally getting to see someone important to you after a long separation. Before you see them, you're nervous, your heart's racing. You've waited so long that you start thinking, "I want to see them, but maybe I don't?" I get that too. But we've been working toward this all along. At this point, I just want to see him already.
Asato: So it's "I want to see him," huh (laughs). I'm also really feeling like "it's finally happening." Up until now, the only scenes the three of us acted together were flashbacks. This time, I finally get to appear as Dino in the present, as a real, living part of their world, and I'm excited to show that. I've watched Keith and Brad searching for him all this time, and I've watched Seiya and BabaRyo continue chasing after him. Now that Dino will actually meet Keith, Brad, and the other characters, I think that's going to spark some new emotions in me as I perform.
― Could you tell us about the story of this new production?
Asato: When I first read this part of the story in the original game, I was genuinely moved.
Inagaki: I feel like New Dawn is, in a way, the first real "goal" for the three of us.
Baba: This production turned out to be far more of a 'Miracle Trio' story than I expected. Even though there are many other elements from HeliosR that could have been explored, they've extracted the Miracle Trio core from the original and woven it together beautifully.
Asato: Not just the characters themselves... their feelings toward each other, their emotional vectors, are depicted very clearly. Especially the way the two of them feel about Dino, and also Keith's feelings toward Brad, it's like those are spilling out. Keith has this pure belief that "Dino is alive," even though Dino is said to have died in the line of duty. Brad shares that feeling, but because he's the mentor leader, he's torn by the responsibility of his position…
Baba: Brad was the one who saw Dino's final moments, after all.
Inagaki: What will become of the long‑standing tension between Keith and Brad? I don't think their relationship itself will change, the trust they've built is still there. It's just that their feelings toward Dino are clashing head‑on. Will they be able to... go back to how they were?
Baba: I hope they can.
Asato: In HeliosR, each character's story keeps unfolding, so you end up reading ahead without meaning to.
Inagaki: Same here. If we tried to include everything, we'd have to split New Dawn into Part 1 and 2!
Baba: So this is not the end? We're getting New Dawn 2 too? (laughs)
Inagaki: I'm kidding (laughs), but that's how much material there is. I think this might be one of the densest stories in the entire series.
― Now that you've reached this point, we'd like to hear how your impressions of the characters have evolved. Let's start with Keith Max, portrayed by Inagaki-san.
Inagaki: A coolness that comes from what he keeps beneath the surface!
Asato: Mmm… though honestly, he's not that good at hiding it (laughs).
Inagaki: Right? (laughs) On the surface he seems cold, but inside he's burning. The gap between those two sides is huge. No matter what happens to him, he keeps pushing forward and that's what makes him such a cool guy.
— Keith isn't just part of the 'Miracle Trio', this production also highlights his role as a West Sector's mentor.
Inagaki: I think so too. The relationship he built with Junior and Faith in THE WEST carries over into this production. It's not like he set out to become a mentor, or even intends to stay one, it just happened naturally. And his approach to mentorship is completely different from Brad's. In West Sector, they don't cling to hierarchy. That equal footing is something I really like.
— Asato-san, your character, Dino Albani, is explored even more deeply in this story.
Asato: What I love about Dino is how warm he is and the way he interacts with everyone so openly and without distinction. In a way, he's like a soothing agent who can bring together even two complete opposites like Keith and Brad. He has a keen sense for subtle emotional cues. And this time, it's not just his brightness, we'll also see his sadness and the more painful parts of his story. I'm really looking forward to how that plays out.
― Was it challenging to bring that brightness to the surface?
Asato: Hmm, I'm not sure? I mean, Dino does have that iconic line, "Love and peace…☆" after all!
Inagaki: But honestly, aren't you basically Dino in real life?
Asato: I'm basically an Okinawan happy-go-lucky guy. I'm always blurting out "Happy!" without thinking. Since we're similar in that way, playing him doesn't feel forced. And hey, we both love pizza!
Baba: You bring that up every single time (laughs).
— Baba-san, you've been playing Brad Beams since the first production in 2022. How do you see him as a character?
Baba: He feels an enormous pressure to uphold what a mentor leader, what a 'hero' should be. But when he's with Keith and Dino, he can finally just be Brad Beams, a person. And I think it's because of those two that his human warmth, and the fierce passion he carries inside, really come to life.
― With such a rigid personality, I imagine it must be challenging to reveal unexpected facets of him.
Baba: He does his best to keep those sides under wraps, but whenever he's with Keith and Dino, they inevitably show. Oscar and Faith reinforce his strict image, yet being part of the 'Miracle Trio'... brings out flashes of his human warmth. I think that balance is what makes him such a compelling character.
― Keith, Dino, and Brad, often referred to as the 'Miracle Trio', are peers and close friends. Could you share a moment that brought the three of you even closer?
Inagaki: Can I be the one to bring this up? I'm actually hoping for the same thing again this year!
Asato & Baba: (Already knowing) … Right.
Inagaki: They treated me to dinner for my birthday.
Asato: I booked the restaurant, and of course, as the oldest, Baba-kun, picked up the bill.
Baba: Could I have the receipt, please? (laughs) Seiya eats an unbelievable amount. He has a bottomless stomach, I'm telling you.
Asato: Last time it was Okinawan food, right? Steak, Okinawa soba, burgers, island shallots... he ate a truly shocking amount.
Inagaki: I'm hoping for the same again this year! Even during rehearsals, I can just say, 'Let's do this,' without holding back, and they always go with it. I feel like that trust between us is the core of what makes our 'Miracle Trio' work.
Baba: Seiya was also the lead actor for THE WEST, and he really looked after everyone like a big brother. He'd talk things through with Jun (Noguchi), Gaku (Takamoto), and the ensemble kids, helping them shape their performances. But with us, he's more like the younger one, the little brother if you would. And honestly, it's really cute.
Asato: He always comes running over like, 'Let's go eat~!'
Inagaki: Within the cast, I fall right in the middle age‑wise, and I really enjoy that spot (laughs). I still don't fully grasp what it means to be a lead actor, but if I can step in as one for a moment, I just want this cast to have a good time together.
Baba: You said the same thing at the first meeting for THE WEST. I remember.
Inagaki: It's my motto. Everyone does their job properly, and we create an atmosphere where we can genuinely enjoy the process.
Asato: By the way, isn't this cast's average age pretty high? Juri‑san, BabaRyo, Yoko-san (Masafumi Yokoyama)... there are three people older than me, and I'm 38! And they're all doing full‑on hero action. It's amazing.
Baba: We're doing our best. Even in our forties, we'll be sweating and running around!
― Before the audience comes to see this new production, some may revisit the previous installments. Could you share your own personal standout moments from the series?
Asato: The bottle‑throwing scene in THE WEST. The three of us drilled that endlessly.
Baba: It had a weight inside, so it spun like crazy. Catching it properly was brutal (laughs).
Asato: And Brad had to catch it one‑handed and look cool, so we practiced like mad. It was fun, though.
Inagaki: For me, it's the opening of THE WEST. I walk out, light a cigarette, and the story begins. It was originally staged differently: Keith was supposed to be fighting with Brad. But when we tried it in rehearsal, it didn't feel right so after discussing it, we changed it to Brad walking calmly through the chaos. Since it's the first scene, that one stuck with me.
Baba: It was a great moment. My pick is Brad's final entrance in THE WEST. The set was three stories high, but we couldn't build that in the rehearsal room. So when I had to jump from the third floor to the second onstage, the height shocked me. A 'mis‑scene,' not a 'famous scene' (laughs).
Asato: No way , it was definitely a famous scene.
Inagaki: It looked cool! You grabbed the railing, right?
Baba: Yeah. I was terrified. It was so high...!
― Lastly, could each of you share a message for the readers who are looking forward to the upcoming production?
Baba: This is truly a long‑awaited show. Personally, I'm really happy to be standing on the stage of Theatre G Rosso again as a hero, it's the same venue where I once performed as a different hero in another production. After Tokyo, we'll also be heading to Kyoto Theater, and with each venue the show will take on a different flavor. I hope you'll feel the energy of our heroes wherever you see it. Please come and meet Dino!
Asato: You mean meet everyone, right?
Baba: It would mean a lot if you came to see Dino and the whole cast!
Asato: (laughs) We've been looking forward to this production just as much as all of you. By the time we finish the full run, I'm sure we'll feel something even greater than the excitement we feel now. We'll be enjoying it right alongside you with... Love & Peace! ☆
Inagaki: It's been about two years since THE WEST, and thanks to the staff who kept things moving... and everyone's support we've made it all the way here. This is a production built by all of us together. I'm certain it will turn out even better than you imagine. Let's enjoy it together, we'll be giving it everything we've got!

Action Stage 「Helios Rising Heroes」 -THE EAST- cast announcement
The long awaited (I say but SUMMER FESTIVAL ended not even two weeks ago) -THE EAST- cast is here! I'm super excited, everyone looks so incredibly good!
Below, cast, comments and other info!
Kenta Matsui as Gray Reverse
Gray is quite shy and very sensitive, but that's what makes him such a great person who can value kindess and those little bits of happiness. The 'warmth' Gray possesses is something I want to hold dear in my life, and I feel there's a special 'warmth' that only I can express because of who I am. Going forward, I hope to get even closer and understand Gray better, and in the end, it would make me really happy if we could wrap 'THE EAST' with that 'warmth'. It would mean a lot if you could watch over this growth process with a warm gaze, not like Asch, in the way Buddy would. Also, this is my first leading role, and I'm super excited about it. I appreciate your support.
Gaku Matsuda as Asch Albright
I believe there's plenty of time to confront Asch's strength, and I want to train my mind and body to approach him with care. I'm really looking forward to meeting a lot of 'heroes' soon, and even though I'm feeling a bit anxious about jumping into 'HeliSta' performances as Asch, I trust that his strength and my love for 'heroes' will support me. I can't wait for the day I get to see all of you at the theater.
Naoya Iwaki as Billy Wise
Thanks for hanging in there, everyone!! Finally!! The entire East Sector is here!! I'm excited to bring you the best East Sector with Juri-san who plays Jay and our new friends. I'm personally excited to go "Gotcha!!!" with everyone again. If there's a chance, I'd love for all the commanders to give it their all. Please support "THE EAST"!
Juri as Jay Kidman
I've been looking forward to East Sector getting together since the first stage. When I first met Billy on stage at 'SUMMER FESTIVAL', it felt like reuniting with a long-lost brother, haha. I can't wait for the day when we can all greet the commanders together as the curtain rises on East Sector. I have a feeling that 'THE EAST' is going to be a tougher performance than what we've had so far, so I'm going to stay prepared and work hard to make sure we have a great opening! Thanks for your support!
Masafumi Yokoyama as Oscar Bale
Shuji Kikuchi as Victor Valentine
Gaku Takamoto as Faith Beams
Yuta Osumi as Shin
Taishi Sugie as Siams
Ryouma Baba as Brad Beams
