Author’s comments: Idk I’ve been in such a fluffy mood as of late so this happened. Please tell me if this sucked because I need to practice lots lmao. Also, this is super short, because y’know, busy busy busy with school.

James had no idea how he ended up at the fireworks show with Aleks, but he was not complaining. The fireworks show was more of a festival than anything, the fireworks were just a bonus. So far, James had won Aleks 3 stuffed animals, not including the one he had bought him when they first got there. The festival included a giant ferris wheel and some other small rides, lots of cute games, and some food booths. James and Aleks had shared a funnel cake before they sat down to watch the fireworks. The two boys picked a spot on the grass, and unrolled their blanket that they bought just for the occasion. In fact, they had argued over whether or not they wanted the polka-dotted blanket or the striped blanket. Of course, James allowed Aleks to get the striped blanket.

James sat criss-crossed next to the Russian on the blanket, just watching him. His hair had been getting longer. Long enough for some of the curliness to be coming back. James liked Aleks’ curls. How they slowly swooped in all different directions around his ears. His ears which were perfectly pale. The Russian’s skin always seemed to amaze James. The way he just looked untouched, except for his lean, tattooed arm. The tattoo just brought out how pale he really was. His eyes, too. His eyes always conflicted with the color of his skin, making the dark brown iris’ even darker than they really were. God, how James adored Aleks. When the younger man looked over at the older, James quickly looked away, up at the sky.

Aleks had his hands propping him up from behind, with his legs stretched out in front of him, so that way if James was looking in any other direction than his way, he could stare at him the whole time and James wouldn’t even know. The older boy’s fluffy hair was basically a ball of poof on the top of his head. Aleks held back his urge to pet it. James’ eyelashes fluttered every time he opened and closed his eyes. He was so beautiful.

Loud booms suddenly erupted through the air, and both boys looked up at the sky. Bright colors of orange and green and red and blue flashed through the night sky. James looked back at Aleks and blushed.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Aleks asked, not taking his eyes off the light show.

“It truly is.” James didn’t even look at the sky, just admired Aleks, and the way his skin lit up with each color the fireworks produced.

Aleks’ hand slowly inched toward James’, which was laying by his hip. Their fingertips barely grazed against each other when Aleks pulled back in fear. James smiled, and grabbed the pale hand.

They stayed like that throughout the night, and James wondered if there was anyway to just record that moment and put it on repeat for the rest of his life.
