Where Is My Mind? - Pixies
Alena was high --- no, she was something more than that. Her body felt light. Her feet felt like they were in the air, and her head in the ground. She was at the beach, letting the waves come up and hit her feet, a smile spreading across her face every time the cool water met her warm skin. She neglected to check where she was going and bumped into another body.
"Avery," she greeted, a far-off look in her glazed over eyes. The sand felt wonderful in between her toes. She looked down, trying to see if she could see each individual grain. Unfortunately, she couldn't. A pout etched itself onto her face as she looked at the red head, who was giving her a strange, yet bemused look. The words coming out of Avery's mouth seemed to float past Alena's ears, making it hard to comprehend. She felt as if she was underwater and everything she was hearing was masked with some distortion. She watched the girl's lips move, and let out a breathy chuckle, a grin growing on her face.
"Animals are hiding behind those rocks," she pointed them out, dropping her voice to a whisper, "Except the little fish. He tells me, he swears to me, they're trying to talk to me. He's way out in the water swimming."
Alena rubbed her temples, her forehead knitting together in confusion. "Where is my mind?" she haze was slowly lifting itself. She felt as if her head was going to collapse, yet there was nothing in it. Her movements felt slow, like it was taking longer for her brain to communicate with her central nervous system to tell her body parts what to do.
"Where is my mind?" she inquired again, dropping her hands to her sides, a serene smile decorating her face as she lifted a finger up to point towards the water, "There it is, I see it swimming."
