House of 1000 Corpses at Universal Studios Haunted Horror Nights 2000
Which came first, House of 1000 Corpses the movie or the House of 1000 Corpses Universal Studios haunted house? Unlike most haunted houses that are based on movies, House of 1000 Corpses the movie is actually based on Rob Zombie’s haunted house of the same name from three years before the film had released. (which Universal refused to have any part in after seeing the final product of the movie, which is now 90 minutes worth of lost media after being unapproved and scrapped!) House of 1000 Corpses was Rob’s second haunted house at Universal. In 1999 his first attraction, a haunted maze called “The Thrilling Chilling World of Rob Zombie” debuted at HHN. The attractions in the maze were based on the songs from Hellbilly Deluxe, Rob’s first album that had released the previous year, and were set to music, which included a Living Dead Girl Room, Dragula garage, Superbeast arena, and a large carnival themed area. It is said to feel like you were in a Rob Zombie music video, the heavy metal horror experience!!

“Tunnel deep inside the most depraved realm of all -- Rob Zombie's brain -- where the living dead reign supreme!”
There’s not many photos or documentation of the 1999 haunted house, however Universal brought back the Rob Zombie festivities with the Hellbilly Deluxe scarezone and a new House of 1000 Corpses attraction at Halloween Horror Nights 20 years later in 2019!
The zone would have the entire album on a loop at all times. Rob (pictured above) and Sheri were actually there as scare actors!!
not sure if this is common knowledge or if anyone even cares, but i’ve been researching today about Rob’s attractions at Universal HHN and i think it’s super cool stuff!!
