Can you pick three moments from RE6 that Jake felt impressed by those around him? 💜
1. Any moment where Sherry does something badass. He’s constantly surprised and awed by her. He’s used to rushing in and getting things done himself, so the fact he’s got someone on his playing field let alone someone stronger than him is wild.
2. Leon and Helena teaming up with him and Sherry to fight Ustanak. Though he still holds a bit of a jealousy grudge against Leon, he’ll admit that he wouldn’t have survived the fight without the two helping him.
3. Chris and Piers taking on Haos. He was pretty certain they wouldn’t survive it. Not only did they stop it, but Chris survived the battle. Certainly earned some respect after that.
What do you consider Leon’s biggest failure(s)? How do they affect him on a day to day basis? 💜
His biggest failure (and also the one he could probably have done the least about) was his failure to protect Sherry or bargain properly for himself after Raccoon. When the government came he not only failed to keep her out of their hands, but he failed to do anything more than guarantee her life.
Young and naive, he was manipulated into asking for nothing more than her survival in exchange for his service. He could have asked many many things even if some of them wouldn’t have been granted but all he did was allow her to live. He didn’t bargain to see her, didn’t bargain for any of her quality of life. He didn’t know to do so but he still counts it a failure.
As a result his ability to trust took a bit of a knock. Paperpushers, admins, bigwigs who sit behind desks, he doesn’t trust any of them. He doesn’t trust suits. Any suit that approaches him makes him uneasy.
His relationship with Sherry was affected also. Despite not being her parent or being around her enough to consider himself one to her after they were separated by the government, he’s very protective of her and constantly feels the need to make up to her those lost years but he doesn’t know how.
Ever since then, he’s tried desperately not to fail anyone. Everyone else always comes first. Their safety, their wellbeing? Top priority (not that it wasn’t before but he’s a lot more aware of it now). He also tends to overthink conversations with strangers, expecting to be talked into agreeing to something he shouldn’t or manipulated into something.
Baaarb. Such a lovely person! That you go out of your way to drop a little something in people’s ask boxes is so generous and I’m sure I’m not the only person who thinks you’re amazing for that alone.
Not only that but your love for the smaller characters, the side characters, the ones with less screen-time than the big-name protagonists is admirable and I love seeing all of them on my dash. They need love too and it’s great to see you giving it to them!
Before he met Claire / the events of code Veronica, how did Steve deal with prison life? 💜
Unprompted | Always Accepting:
Oh you know, like how anyone would act after being thrown in prison for something they didn’t do and watching their mother die cause of it, he have brooded,
Thats not saying he wouldn’t have at least gotten to kinda know the other prisoners, nothing close, just simple small talk, he was mostly upset and angry with his dad the whole time.
So he didn’t exactly take it well, The outbreak was a blessing honestly, even if it was extremely harsh.
Years on, how does Sherry’s memory of Raccoon compare with the actual events? Are there parts she can’t fully recall? Does she ever think about her parents? 💜
((I’m putting this under a Read More because I kinda rambled-
Currently, Sherry’s recollection of the events in Raccoon City are fuzzy, at best. Her clearest memories are of the two-ish (?? I can’t ever remember dates rip)) days before meeting Claire, where she spent most of her time hiding under desks and inside closets. Even that is something of a blur, mostly because nothing much happened, aside from finding her father for the first time (which she doesn’t rememeber at all, so-)
She also remembers meeting Claire, being taken by Irons, and consequently reuniting with the younger Redfield. However, details in these memories are hard for her to recall - she misremembers (is that even a word?) things that were said, or what certain things looked like (for example, she’s completely forgotten the layout of the orphanage, although it’s arguable if she really knew it to begin with).
Her mother’s death is another memory where this happens. The main difference between reality and recollection here is that she remembers her mother following she and Claire for a while after she, in real life, was already dead. She does not speak in the memory, and at some point before they reach the surface, completely disappears from it. Sherry assumes this is a false memory, for that reason, but also is hesitant to ask about it.
There are times that she has entirely forgotten, mostly to do with her father / G. She can’t remember being infected, or how she got beneath the Orphanage where Claire found her the second time around. The entirety of her time being infected is also a total mystery to her.
On the topic of her parents, Sherry thinks about them very often. At a younger age, she was plagued by the question of if they ever really cared about her - if they loved her as their daughter, or if she was nothing to them. She wants to think that they loved her. But she finds it hard to believe, mostly due to the feeling being fostered by Simmons’ treatment of her, but that’s a whole meta in itself, so.
She often wonders if it was her own fault. She thinks, maybe she just wasn’t a good enough daughter for them to bother with, or she wasn’t smart enough, or she was just plain annoying. The question that hangs over her head now is what exactly they would think of her, if they saw her now. Would they be proud of what she’d made from herself? Or would be horrified, that she was helping to tear down everything they’d worked for? She’s not sure if she really wants to know.))
Since scents can trigger memories, what’s a scent that triggers a happy memory for Leon, and what would that memory be? 💜
Leon doesn’t have a great many happy memories since ‘joining’ the various government task forces but!
The smell of freshly baked bread. His mother would bake her own bread rather than getting store-bought stuff because it was cheaper to make a lot of loaves across the use of the ingredients than it was to buy one loaf of sliced bread for the same cost. So his home kitchen was often filled with the scent of her baking.
She would bake other goodies too, mostly bread-based as opposed to sweet cakes and whatnot but the smell of fresh bread when he’d come home from school, or when he visited from the police academy?
The smell of fresh bread is the smell of home.
It evokes images of his childhood helping out and getting flour everywhere, of his mother with a dusty apron, of the kitchen bright and happy. Better times, when things weren’t so dark.
He likes his sweet treats but homebaked, fresh bread really reminds him that his life has been more than the doom and gloom of fighting bioterror, that there was a time before all of that that was a happy one and that if he keeps fighting, other people will have the chance at the same happy childhood that he did.
A lot of RE characters have associations with colours - like Jills being blue and Claire’s being red - what colour would associate with Alex and why?
This blog is accepting development anons! | Still Accepting!
Definitely green just cause how she is and is what she wears on the battlefield. Her uniform always has some sort of a shade of green (or mostly around the cool colors, like blue, cyan, green, etc).
Usually, with green you’re kind, loyal, curious, and you’re looking to find growth. Negative traits with green are defiantly going to be Envy and Jealousy.
Also I feel like green has a lot to do with nurturing as well, which goes along with Alex being able to tend and care to others.
Which is your favourite era to write for epsilon and why?
((Oof, that’s a tough question. I think one of my favorites is putting him in Blood Gulch, right after Season 10 but before 11, or putting him on Chorus. Both of those give me the most freedoms I have to work with him.))
