Do you have anything on the Canadian military? My poor and neurodivergent lil brother already joined but I’m collecting ways to reconsider deployment. He says he’ll only be to sent to small countries to help with training or whatever & not fight zones or stronger geopolitical places but still. Anything helps

A really good starting point for Canadian militarism and how the Canadian military terrorizes people globally and domestically is the Canadian branch of World BEYOND War, which was recently one of the groups that put together the major report about how Canada was sending weapons to Isr*el the entire time the government claimed it had paused shipments - the front page has some basic facts to start; there is also this legal briefing about possible Canadian complicity in war crimes in Afghanistan, but it's definitely on the long and legalese side.

One popular thing I would avoid is anything about how Canada was allegedly the reason for the Geneva Conventions being created bc as far as I can tell, that's not really true, and more of a Canadian nationalist myth-building 'the proud Canadian nation was born in WWI through how brutally badass our soldiers were' thing, so in addition to not really being true, it's like, can we not promote nationalist military propaganda in an unintentionally ironic way.
