Well shoot, most of my knowledge on what to do in a hell escape situation typically deals with intentionally entering hell for some purpose and then exiting. In such situations I know demons don’t do great vs 12g buck, but escaping…

You may have to go solid snake on this one. Assets retrieved on site. Unless you’ve got a truly golden tongue and the wit of your choice of particularly clever mythological figure, you’re going to want to get something to fight your way out with. Doesn’t matter if it’s cursed, you’re already in hell, can’t do much worse than that.

Pick your fights, attacks made against an unaware target can’t be defended against, on account of the unawareness. Better to not fight or be seen. I suppose you could try to gather allies to fill in gaps in your knowledge of combat or terrain. Dante in his story found Virgil, maybe you could find your own comrade(s).

Don’t fail. I’m not sure how they treat escapees in hell but it can’t be great, and don’t give up. The only thing worse then being in hell is meaninglessly trekking through hell and then giving up. Or as I’ve heard it said: when going through hell don’t stop because you’re still in hell. Or something to that effect.
