Oz was possessive, that much had always reigned true. Whether that was due to his unstable upbringing or abandonment issues, it wasn't all quite clear. What Oz did know was that he was never going to let Shona Samhain out of his sight again. He wouldn't-couldn't not after she disappeared. He all but lost himself in that time, knowing full and well he was nothing without her. Now that she was back and in the flesh and his soon to be bride he was full of intimate caresses and whispered sweet nothings in the dark. He knew Shona had always been independent but that fear of losing her again drowned out all logical sense. What if it happened again? What if he couldn't protect her again? He was not going to let that happen. Anything but her. OZ didn't want to seem over bearing especially since she was adjusting to her routine of their normalcy again. He knew it wasn't easy, she still stirred in her sleep at night sometimes. Only stopping until he wrapped his arms around her frame and brought her close against the warmth of his chest. She didn't talk about it, and he wasn't about to push the subject either. He wouldn't be too practically happy to divulge into the chaos of his mind when he thought she was lost in time. Oz just wanted her to be okay, and he was doing anything he could to make that a reality. Spoiling her in gifts, black roses on their kitchen counter everyday, breakfast in bed. Anything just to see her smile. He needed it, to see her happy and safe in the confines of their home. It meant everything to him.

Oz woke with the sun barely setting in the sky. He figured it was time to get up, lest he beat Shona to the coffee machine so he could fix both of them a cup. He was about to pull away from the bed when he turned to see her eyes slowly fluttering open. Ever the magnetic an unexplainable force kept him glued in place, all thoughts of coffee gone when he reached over and brushed his palm across her cheek. "Is it too soon to say good morning mrs. godfrey?"

PROMPT,   channels are open.

while she does have those she considers to be her friends,   there’s no denying that most are kept at arms length.  or...  all,  really,  but there are a few who una allows closer than others.  ortegas is nearer to being included in the latter group,  which is a little surprising    and,  as she’s noted once or twice before,  completely unexpected.  not necessarily in a bad way,  but there’s not all that much that goes undetected by una’s sensors.  (  @sadnessruns​  ) certainly seems like the sort to have that capacity though,  hence the fact that it’s only a minor surprise and not anything more significant.  

outside of any scheduled events,  una’s the sort to spend most of her free time in her quarters or the gym    it’s easier and honestly?  outside of work,  allowing herself comfort and relaxation comes in an extreme few forms,  and being around others isn’t quite on the list of things that provides that.  usually.  just as,  usually,  it’s not something that’s questioned.  

it’s unexpected to hear the door chime,  head lifting as una slowly rises to her feet and approaches,  finally close enough that the door should slide open.

“ortegas?”   this time she’s surprised,  enough so that it’s audible in the question as brow furrows,   “is...  everything okay?”

on a list of responses she might expect to hear,   “on a scale of one to ten, how do you feel about nachos right now?”   isn’t even close to being close to making the list    so,  surprise number two?

a moment’s offered for contemplation.   eh,  what the hell,  right?

“here’s something you might not know about me,  lieutenant,”   a small smile replaces that of confusion,   “i’m a pretty big fan of nachos,  and right now?  mmm,  i’d say maybe a seven,  an eight.  i assume you’re asking because you’re feeling similarly and this isn’t some bizarre way of saying ‘hi’,”
