neon light floods the alleyway, tearing apart the edge of a familiar darkness haeil has cloaked himself in, waiting for his a client. despite the similarities of new york city & seoul, he feels out of his element. he can’t escape the sensation, even when hidden beneath layers of gloom & isolation, doing the only thing he knew how to do dealing. now, with eyelids shut tightly he can feel the homesickness drain out of his body. it surprised him ; how all it took was imagining the cold, crumbling paint he felt with his fingertips belonged to that of a new york apartment building, instead of wealthy gangnam casino. rustic creaking of a door chases his thoughts away & eyes snap open. fucking dumbass, he thinks, you know better than to loose your focus. silhouette steps out, setting paranoia off within his body. instinctually he tightens grip around the switchblade hidden in his sleeve. the client is supposed to come out of the butterfly’s cardroom ; it makes sense. cocaine is expensive & gambling is too. rich people have no problem indulging in addiction. it has to be them. ‘ hope you know you’re lucky i’m still fucking here. been waiting twenty-five minutes & the boss says ten max, then we bounce. was beginning to think i was being narced on. ’
