Adele’s ‘Stank Face’

Humanity is so complex. Am I the ONLY one who thinks it’s hilarious (and refreshing) when Adele makes a stank face while she’s singing “Hello”? I’m specifically referring to the stank face she makes while singing the following lyrics:

Hello from the outside At least I can say that I’ve tried To tell you I’m sorry for breaking your heart But it don’t matter it clearly doesn’t tear you apart anymore

She makes it in multiple performances, but one of my favorites is her on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with classroom instruments. So good – the performance that is. In the Xavier Dolan video-directed version, she’s giving more running through Tottenham with my woes face, but I can appreciate both.

Are you apologizing or nah, Adele?! Haha! Clearly in her feelings during those lyrics. Most of us probably have had the same moment. I have. You know – because the conversation didn’t go as we had expected. Or, we’ve been on the other end of it, where someone finally does offer an apology and it’s nice to have it after it’s all said, or sad and done, but you’ve already found some type of inner strength and made peace with the debacle. So, you probably aren’t too invested emotionally any longer, which could read as aloofness. It’s a slippery slope when you’re on the ‘other side.’

Anyways, it’s just a random thought, but I think her so face is so gangsta and funny as she’s belting out those beautiful lyrics. I wonder if that’s actually what she means to emote? Or, is it merely based on interpretation.
