I don't know why I had this Decemberists song stuck in my head, but it reminds me of the efforts I've been making to build some walls around the more contemplative parts of myself as I come down from a very outward-facing year. I'll often use music to conjure the person I was at a previous stage of my life and try to bring aspects of her into the present.
It's a weird thing, watching the tidal changes in who we are over time.
