TRUE. Ebony is hard to help when she gets freaked out, but Ditto is weirdly good about it? She’s gotten herself caught in bags (paper & plastic) a couple times before & doesn’t totally flip out & freezes when I reach for her to untangle her. It’s quite convenient, though I’m not sure how much of it is expectation of being helped or just a panic response.

Seriously though, we had some people bring in a cooper’s hawk at the rehab once & walked in with their child holding the bird against her body. Said she’d held it all the way there and “it knows we’re trying to help”. No, it thought you were going to eat it, was frozen from stress, and could’ve caused some very nice lacerations on your daughter’s stomach, but okay. The bird started flailing & flipping out about 10 seconds after the rehabber took it from the kid.

(I’m fairly certain I’ve told that story at least twice on this blog already, but I still can’t get over it!!!! Why are you letting your child hold something with so many sharp bits on it!!!!)
