I'm not gonna reblog that tumblr staff post because it's a cesspit, but I do think the huge number of comments saying stuff like "trans women are the people who built tumblr" are categorically nuts. Tumblr has always been the Fandom Teenage Girl website since its inception. Many of the teenage girls just grew up into men and enbies, but it's still the Fandom Girlie Website

I keep seeing this revisionist narrative of Tumblr's demographics and it's bonkers to me as someone who has been here since 2010 and seen a dozen mass influx and exoduses from the porn ban to musk buying twitter, and tumblr only started getting a significant transfem population after the bullshit with twitter and reddit.

And this is gonna be a hot take, but I think the rancid tme/tma discourse that's been going on the last few months is just reinventing misogyny with new labels. It's ludicrous the amount of vile unconscionable and, let's call it what it is, bullying, I've seen targeted at (specifically) transmascs on this website who were here for years and years before the people screaming at them were old enough to post here.

Like... yeah, it sucks when there's bias in moderator decisions, but you don't need to lie about the history of the website and its community to push back against it.

So. I've seen a fair few posts recently making what I consider to be good points about the various forms of transphobia that trans men and trans women face in different ways. And then... They get accompanied by things pitting us against each other. So here's my conclusion as a trans woman: TMA and TME is a stupid distinction that reinforces the gender binary and serves no purpose other than to divide us. Hell, transmisogyny and transandrophobia just aren't helpful terms. We experience transphobia in different ways but it's all fucking transphobia. Arguing over who has it worse just makes us easier targets. We cannot afford to turn on each other like this. Please everyone just calm the fuck down, recognise that other people experience transphobia differently, and recognise that dismissing different experiences of transphobia as an infringement on each other's spaces is the exact tactics transphobes use against us. Fucking stop.

that last post is crucial + the most succinct version of all the thoughts Ive been trying to organize but I was literally saying to my sister the other day that half the reason I have the internalized homophobia that i do (besides the obvious factors of struggles w the concept of masculinity, being raised irish catholic etc) is bc fucking mogai hell tumblr made me pigeonhole + rationalize myself when I was like “oh well I dont think I could ever be sexual with a girl must just be because Im trans and dysphoric” or “must be gray ace or demi”

even with my ptsd which gives me periods of sex repulsion, completely independent of my sexuality, until I finally realized its none of that, not biromantic homosexual or grey ace biromantic homosexual its all bullshit im gay and that split attraction model of xromantic xsexual HARMED me and got my internalized homophobia so bad it affected my paranoia and depression and even issues with self harm. i want this hellsite to die

not gonna lie there's a lot of posts going around on tumblr lately where if you changed the words "transmasc" or "TME" to "woman", they would be rightfully called out as abhorrent, dehumanizing, misogyny. so what are we doing here, folks?

Everytime I'm browsing any female character tag on AO3, I'm baffled by the number of mlm fics compared to wlw ones.

Like, the ratios don't match, 50/50 m/f cast? that's 60/40 mlm/wlw, want only wlw or mlm? That's straight down to 70/30 to 75/25.

Like, I get it, being gay's awesome, but whether it is a media without any official relationship of any kind, or one with openly queer reationships the ratio's never following the cast's.
