I have to do this.
The Scroll, Goetic Syllables, Goetic Words, and my disappointment.
So there’s this game called Hellslave, which i personally enjoy but freely admit some of its features are kinda…yeah. But one of the features I really LOVE is the Goetic Scroll, which introduces a secondary, i guess you could call it “magic system”. However, i am THOROUGHLY disappointed in the fact that the scroll’s mechanics are explained quite POORLY, but that there are so FEW uses.
Basically, every time you kill an enemy, you gain a charge for the scroll, up to a max of 10 charges at a time. You can pull up the scroll menu, and spend 2 charges to summon a Goetic Syllable onto the scroll, up to a maximum of 5 Syllables on the scroll at once. You can “cast” Syllables, which removes the Syllable from the scroll, freeing up space for another, and activating that Syllable’s effect. Yes, you can have multiple of a Syllable on the scroll, I’ve had several times where that’s happened. There are 5 Syllables, being the following:
Gor
Sheol
Khan
Xeyn
Zuul
Gor and Sheol are basically counterparts, both restoring 1 of your 2 non-rage resources equal to your level times 2. Gor restores Mana, and Sheol restores Health.
Khan and Zuul are honestly both boring imo, with Khan making your next hit a crit and Zuul just dealing magical damage to all enemies. Xeyn is kinda interesting though, giving all enemies -50% to hit chance for 10 seconds. (Btw Hellslave Combat is a sorta mix between TBC and RTC.)
But then, there’s the, in my opinion, most heinous part. The Goetic Words. Now, before you look, I want you to think, “How many words can you make with 5 Syllables?” The answer will be right below.
Hellslave taught me the true difference -20% makes. Because on easy mode, the enemies have -20% damage and health. I’m playing normal mode right now, AND EVERYTHING HITS LIKE A TRUCK. I swear I was face tanking some of these guys, but now I get fuckin DESTROYED.
