A mini-Fanfic inspired by the new Outbreak Prime quest, in which my Hunter has a bit of a one-sided conversation with his old, Eliksni buddy, with a little tribute to Marvel Cinematic Universe under the read more (No Endgame Spoilers, trust).

Title: A Long and Overdue Rendezvous

Rating: Teen, SFW

“So I shot Uldren. Came to the Dreaming City. Hunted the last Ahamkara. Which by the way, the Dreaming City, is like totally cursed. No relation to the Ahamkara by the way, totally not our fault.”

(inaudible warbling) 

“Oh yeah, Mara is ‘alive’? Like she died and there was a Throne World, and then she’s alive again. Look, I can like send you the whole file set, but this whole secret squirrel runaround isn’t actually my thing, so... Either way, she’s still a stone cold bitch, but her last words to me were ‘Bow to No One’. Like woah, spine-tingler, but in that epic way you know? Do you guys even have spines? 

(short huffing noise)

“I digress, sorry if I ramble, it’s something I don’t get to indulge often. Whoever I try to talk to ‘sides Ghost, it’s always Guardian this or Guardian that. Never Guardian how, er how’s the Guardian? 

“Well, there was Hawthorne, but she’s like the den-mother of the Clans, so there’s like a thousand Kinder-Guardians she has to overlook day-to-day.” 

“Drifter mixes it up a little, calling me brother, but the fact he likes to emphasis the word trust makes me trust him less. Like who even talks like that anymore?” 

“Zavala, he’s keeping up that strong front, but you don’t need all four eyes to know he’s cracking up on the inside but it’s drill and ceremony anytime we talk.” 

“Sensei Ikora, well don’t tell her this, but I think she’s getting a bit more emotional, so that ticks her off my ‘get help’ list for now. Maybe in a decade or two she’ll simmer down, trying asking her for help then.”

(Unknown phrase in Eliksni)

“And Cayde? I...miss him. Like a lot. Been doing what I can to make it right in the ‘verse. Put my bet with the Vanguard, even when he lost. But now I’m in the middle of a cold civil war in the Tower with barely anyone to watch my back, renegade Guardians coming out the woodwork, and here I am telling my whole life story to a rogue Fallen Kell. Been keeping track of what you’ve been doing. Building a new House. Uniting with the Last City and any Guardian that will listen. Speaking of the City, what was this about the House of Devils?”

“And before we go, and thank you by the way. For listening. Plus, something about just getting all this off my chest, and putting it out there in the atmosphere, instead of holding it all in... I mean, this is what gets people sick, you know. Wow, I had no idea you were such a good listener. To be able to share all my intimate thoughts and my experiences with someone, anyone, it just cuts the weight of it in half. You know, it's like a snake swallowing its own tail. Everything comes full cir-”

(snoring-like noises)

“Uh, Mithrax? Misraax? Misraaks?”

(inaudible snorting noise, brief)

“Are you with me?

(rapid Eliksni sentence, apologetic tone)

“Were you actively napping? You mean to tell you were just sleep-talking through the whole thing?” 

(Eliksni word, affirmative)

“Where did I lose you?”

(Eliksni sentence, awkward tone) 

“So you heard none of it?”

(rapid Eliksni sentence, awkward tone, interrupted)

“What, you don’t have the time?”

(brief Eliksni word, completing last statement, apologetic tone)

“You know what? Oh Traveler, that reminds me. 4 years ago, pre-Oryx invasion. Little Light had a voice change, that was weird...”

Yes that’s how that works or at least that’s what I think it would be cause that’s how it works for schools around me

Where I am, both my sisters had to be held back a year because they were both born after the maximum enrollment date. I was born before it, and so I turned six during my kindergarten year, but they turned seven during their kindergarten year.

For Hogwarts I’d imagine it’s the same thing. You have to be 11 by September first because you have to be at least 11 to go to your first year. I mean it’s canon that Sirius was born ‘59 not ‘60 like the rest of the marauders but he’s in the same year as them because he was born after the cutoff date

idk if it's just the schools i went to, but in australia - or at least where i'm from in australia - it is very much anything goes.

like because we start our school year in february and it goes until december with breaks in between, most kids turn six in kindergarten, but some kids turn five, and i had a kid who turned seven in my kindergarten class

i mean i feel like there has to be laws about the latest they can start (i'm not going to look them up, but i trust that they're there), but it is also very much when you feel your child is ready to start

Thank you so much, @sixth-light and @clarasteam, for suggesting that preventing logged out accounts from seeing my posts might affect the ‘read more’ function. Whew! Changing that option solved the problem. I’d like to say I had it checked for reasons of privacy, but I probably just didn’t get that far down the options.
