Volunteer Companionship
(Atrium Retirement Residence)
Are you interested in senior activity support? Perhaps you’re interested in program coordination, arts and crafts, sport and recreation or simply social interaction? This volunteer opportunity consists of providing companionship to the senior residents, reading to them, doing crafts or assisting within the culinary department. In volunteering with the Atrium Retirement Residence, you will gain communication and interpersonal skills, learn how to be more creative and contribute to a friendly and outgoing environment. Volunteers are welcome to volunteer any amount of time for as little or as long as they want. Volunteers are needed Monday through to Sunday for any part of the day, as this opportunity is very flexible! Transportation Services Worker
(Helping Hands, Orillia, Personal Care and Caregiver Relief)
Helping Hands Orillia is looking for friendly, outgoing, positive individuals with an excellent driving record that enjoy assisting seniors to appointments locally or through long-distance trips. This opportunity includes assisting clients, taking them to medical appointments as well as shopping and social appointments. Volunteers will be compensated $0.40/km for mileage when using their own vehicle. For those volunteers interested in wheelchair transportation, additional training is provided and an agency wheelchair vehicle is available. Helping Hands is looking for volunteers that are able to make a minimum of a one year commitment, with a minimum of 4 hours per week. The position is open to individuals that are aged 21 years or up, and a police check is required. Shifts are available Monday through to Sunday in the morning, afternoon and evening. Walking Partner for Next Steps Walking Program
(March of Dimes Canada, Head Office-Toronto)
March of Dimes is looking for volunteers as Walking Partners for individuals who have suffered from a stroke. The Walking Partner is responsible for providing support to staff and participants. They will assist the coordinators with set-up and clean-up to ensure the effective delivery of the program. The volunteer will also provide companionship to the participants by developing positive relationships with them and ultimately maximizing their experience with the program. This opportunity is great for individuals that are interested in Senior Support and Rehabilitation and that has a friendly, positive and dependable personality. The organization asks for a minimum of a 3 month commitment for a minimum of 3 hours per week. They ask that individuals hoping to volunteer are aged 16 and up and have experience working with people that have suffered a stroke or that have experience working with individuals with physical disabilities.. Dress for Success is looking for individuals that are interested in supporting the vision of Dress for Success, to join their volunteer team. Dress for Success works to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged women by ensuring they have the support and resources needed to return to work.
