What is Happening to the Refugees?
ROHINGYA REFUGEES. World leaders urge at the UN General Assembly to provide support and safe zones for Burmese refugees, who have been fleeing from ethnic cleansing.
Bangladesh and Burmese governments are in the midst of providing support, but Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina suggested a Burmese government 'violence’. Buddhist protesters are stopping the relief supplies from reaching to refugees.
Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia has permitted refugees entry into Malaysia, though it needs to distinguish refugees from working migrants.
SYRIAN REFUGEES. The U.S. government has cut funding that affected Zataari’s maternity clinic to be maintained until the end of 2017, leaving Syrian women and young girls concerned about being left behind without emotional support. Syrian refugees are seeking accessibility of drinkable water in Jordan and Lebanon. They urgently need more aid from international communities.
AFGHAN REFUGEES. In February 2017, Afghan refugees are being sent back to the war zones from Pakistan. Germany has deported 8,620 failed asylum seekers (January - April 2017) back to Afghanistan due to security concerns and visa regulations.
Summary: With restricted borders and the lack of aid, these refugees have nowhere to call HOME.
