Be the one to Ask, Keep them safe, Be there, Help them connect, and Stay connected.
Suicide Prevention: Be the one to help them connect. Trying to find resources for mental health can be overwhelming even on our best days. When you're in so much pain it feels like dying is the only way to escape it, well, it can feel so discouraging and intimidating that many struggle to even know where to start. Help them find the support and resources they need. If the need is urgent help them get to the hospital as soon as possible. If they're in immediate danger help them search for support. Start with your local crisis hotline, your family doctor, or an online search of "mental health crisis" in your area. Help is out there, and there are others who are willing to help you find it. Here's some other places to start. https://adaa.org/ https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ https://www.nami.org/
Your mental health is as important as your physical health. There is no single cause to suicide. It most often occurs when stressors exceed current coping abilities of someone suffering from a mental health condition. Help is available whether you are thinking about suicide or you know someone who is. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #ask #keepthemsafe #bethere #helpthemconnect #followup #helpisavailable #reachoutforhelp (at Beacon, New York)
