FIESTA-ING I just finished fiesta-ing this evening. It took me longer than expecting to get through the short novel which was meant to be an easy read after finishing Ulysses. I stopped for a coffee and sandwich mixto so I could enjoy the last chapter and ordered the sandwich with an egg. As Ray Darcy always says, "Everything is better with an egg on it". I finished the coffee and took a metro to the city centre when the protagonist in the story is asked to travel to Madrid to meet his friend. They go for drinks in The Palace and I would have been tempted to finish the last few pages there if I hadn't been served a horrible coffee there once and decided to finish the book on a bench in Plaza Santa Ana in front of one of Hemingway's old haunts, La Cerveceria Aleman where I have always enjoyed their coffee. In the final few pages they finish at a restaurant called Botín which was another favourite of Hemingway that I would recommend to anyone visiting Madrid. Fiesta is finished but Botín is still open.
