christmas rant

The problem I see in our society is that children are raised to have blind faith in adults. We fill them with lies about Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy and tell them the world is set up to take care of them.  Then, when they (we) discover that Santa claus isn't real, that the magic was a lie, adults have the fucking gall to blame "millennials" for reacting to the traumatizing realization that we've been lied to for our entire lives. They blame us for believing them.

And what's worse? Those lies are a privilege. To grow up believing the world was set up to help us, or to support us, or even JUST to keep us safe is an undeniable privilege.

So while you're celebrating this year, remember all the poc families celebrating without their children/husbands/wives for the first time. I hope your holiday means all the more to you.
