Quality goes with quality: look what came home with me from heavenly @hendrickxbakery after the last of the #ChicagoChocolateTours (see 4 posts back for the story of how I reopened the tours for one night only) -- the famous #hendrickxbakery "Belgian cupcake" that we used to sample on my Chicago Cupcake Tours back in the old days! ••• It's a delicious chocolate-filled soft cake, with a moist texture between a muffin and a cupcake, not sweet. What fun to welcome a dear returning customer from the 1.0 days of the chocolate tours, to a semi-impromptu mini chocolate tour today! 💚 We stopped at always-beloved #hendrickxbakery, where everything is baked onsite, including the authentic croissants which take 18 hours to make (we sampled the luscious chocolate almond croissants this time!), and the Belgian country bread which contains just 4 ingredients - flour, water, yeast, and salt - plus chocolate if you add a chocolate baton to make a popular Belgian after-school bread-and-chocolate snack! 💛 Feeling so grateful this Thanksgiving weekend! 🌞 #chicagochocolatetours #valeriesoriginalchocolatetours (at Hendrickx Belgian Bread Crafter)

Art of macarons, at heavenly #hendrickxbakery, filled with chocolate or white chocolate ganache! 💜💛💖 Fun tip from my chocolate tours: easy way to tell a macaron from a macaroon: a macaroon is made from coconut, and the words macaroon and coconut both contain 2 of the letter o! A macaron is made from almond flour, and the words macaron and almond each contain 1 o! #culinarymnemonics : )
