The March Family 1900
I just wanted to pop in here today to say thank you so, so much to all of you who have bought/downloaded Demimonde on Gumroad in the last week!
I’m absolutely floored and can’t thank you enough.
Over the last year and a half, I’ve completely lost confidence in my original fiction and my capability as a writer. Most days, I feel like a complete hack. Working on original projects can be really hard when that’s the first hurdle to get over. Having people -- total strangers, frankly -- see my silly little novel and decided to take a chance on it has been really gratifying. Having some of you all circle back and tell me what you enjoyed, that’s been incredible.
So, thank you. thank you so much. For being interesting, for reading, for those little reviews and votes of confidence. All the time I spend listening to ABBA’s “Take a Chance on Me” feels like it’s finally paying off.
Thank you, thank you so much 💜
xoxo

(p.s. for those of you who have asked, I’m working on a paperback version. I hope to have it up and running by April, but I am one woman over here and photoshop + bleeds are not my strong suit. So stay tuned for that!)
The March Family Home
Windenberg.
Henry wasn’t yet the age to attend school, but he loved to join his older sister on her errands into town. Louisa didn’t mind the company, besides her little brother always found something in the store to occupy his attention while she visited with Edward.
“Do you think you could meet me to go iceskating this weekend? It’ll be spring soon and the pond down by the ruins will thaw,” The shop boy asked her.
“I should be able to get out of my chores on Saturday,” Louisa smiled, but felt butterflies in her stomach. She’d never met with Edward outside of the general store, excluding the time he visited house to deliver her Christmas gift. But she didn't want to lose her nerve now, she wanted to take advantage of the freedoms that came with her youth.
As both of their thirteenth birthdays drew closer, Henry and Roy’s friendship only grew stronger. The two boys often arrived to the schoolhouse early, allowing them to socialize with their classmates and play in the schoolyard. Roy was beginning to garner more attention from their female classmates, but neither of the boys paid them much mind.
At first, Henry had some difficulties making friends at the schoolhouse, that was of course until he met a local boy named Roy Maloney. They were fast friends, and spent as much free time together outside of school as possible. On some occasions, Roy was allowed to sleepover at the March household.
The boys were full of energy. The stayed up into the late hours of the night talking and giggling until they eventually exhausted themselves. Henry had finally found his own true best friend.
With her mother put on bed rest after a strenuous labor, Edith begins to take on more responsibility around the house. With Louisa gone, she was the eldest child in the house and she wanted to do her sister proud. Henry was just happy to get help with his vocabulary work.
Henry has aged up into a child! Similar to how Pippi joined the family, Jacob brought home a dog as a gift for his only son. Henry named the dog Lady so that whenever he played pretend like the stories Louisa read him, she could be the Lady he saved.
It became apparent that Henry would not be the youngest March child for much longer, Maude was once again pregnant. This time there were no worries of the house being too small or there being a lack of money, things were going well for the family.
