Zaheer
The violent zealot known as Zaheer was the leader of the Red Lotus, an anarchist sects that sought to bring down the four nations and put an end to the cycle of resurrection of the Avatar. Zaheer was captured and he and his three top lieutenants were each incarcerated in special, highly fortified prisons.
Through deep meditation Zaheer was ultimately able to become an air bender, with the capacity to fly and control the wind. He used this new power to escape and free his top lieutenants among the Red Lotus. These colleagues included the earth-bender known as Ghazan, the fire-bender P'Li and the water-bender Ming Hua.
Reformed, Zaheer and The Red Lotus conquered the Earth Kingdom and killed its queen, Hou-Ting They then sought to end the Avatar Cycle by killing Avatar Korra while she was in the Avatar State. This attempt failed and Zaheer's comrades were killed, leaving him as the only survivor of the Red Lotus. He was once more incarcerated and would later assist Korra in defeating her new foe, Kuvira.
Actor/musician Henry Rollins provided the voice for Zaheer with he villain first appearing in the 27th episode of The Legend of Korra, airing on June 27th, 2014.
