Saturday evening I met 3 other au pairs. One of them reached out to me via a Facebook group and asked to go for a drink. She invited 2 other au pairs and I brought a friend I met via MeetUp a while ago. Five girls - four nationalities; belgian - american - south african - mexican.
We went to Henry’s Tavern, a fun bar at Shops at Legacy, a fancy outdoor shopping area. We talked about our jobs, compared our host families, talked about home, discussed how we try to meet new people/ make friends and discovered a new game: shuffleboard. It made me think of “sjoelen”. In this american game you shoot metal-and-plastic weighted pucks down a long and smooth wooden table into a scoring area (1-5) at the opposite end of the table. Looks simple but it is actually really tricky. The sand on the table makes the pucks go faster. You can have a team at each end of the table, or play on one side so you can bump other pucks further away or off the table. A lot of fun!
On Sunday I went out for brunch again. This time at Old Monk, an Irish pub that offers some good Belgian beers as well! For example Duvel, Chimay, La Chouffe, Maredsous, Tripel Karmeliet, Rochefort 10 and many more! Too bad I’m not a big beer lover... I had mimosa instead and lovely ‘eggs benedict’, yummie!
Birthday boy! 🎉🎈 Last night we celebrated with friends @henrystavern 🙌🏼 Nothing like indulging in a giant bavarian soft pretzel, sushi, poke cobb, bbq chicken pizza (bbq sauce made in house), chicken tacos, & cinnamon apple donuts! 🥨🍎🍩🍣🍕🥂🌮 What’s not to love!!! It’s the perfect restaurant to get delicious food, hang out with friends, and catch up on the game! 🏈🙌🏼 #henrystavern (at Henry's Tavern) https://www.instagram.com/p/BniDn-oH44_/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1n3sotb6kpzmp
