Going to Henry’s School
[Zach]
Zach and Hope arrived at the school and headed to Henry’s dorm room and knocked. “Henry? Can you open the door?”
[Hope]
Hope leaned against the wall as she watched Zach knock on Henry’s door. She pushed her hair out of her face as she saw some boys looking at her and just waved.
[Henry]
Henry was in his room again because Josh was busy yet again. He hadn’t been able to spend time with his boyfriend for a bit over a month now and it was starting to bother him. The male shook his head from his thoughts as he went and opened the door. “Oh hey. Mom, dad…what are you doing here?” He asks before hearing Josh and Jake laughing next door and his eyes flashed blue.
[Zach]
“Well I know you were having some issues with Josh and I can see what you mean. When was the last time you two hung out? Or has it just been this whole project thing constantly?” He asks when hearing the boy next store, seeing how it was affecting Henry.
[Hope]
Hope pushed herself off the wall as she walked into the boy’s room. She heard Zach’s words and heard the boys next door. “Who is your project partner?” She asked him.
[Henry]
“Since I was home I don’t have one. I finished my project a few days ago. I only see Josh during class. He said we would hang out later and every time I go to see if he wants to hang out he is with Jake.”
“Other Josh came out the other day and told me how much he likes Jake and how easy it is to get him to...I don’t even think he wants to spend time with me anymore. We have been here over a month and we haven’t had a date much less been able to have a minute alone. I have to hear them constantly having fun when that project was already due a few days ago.” He just shrugged before moving so they could come inside.
[Zach]
“If the project was over days ago then why hasn’t he come over to hang out with you? Who the hell is this Jake guy? Maybe we should pay him a visit. He does know you and Josh are together so why is…that doesn’t make sense. You two were so close you kept talking about getting married and now he’s being like this?” He could feel himself getting angry.
[Hope]
“Josh isn’t our kid Zach, you can’t yell at someone’s child because they are spending time together. Josh hasn’t cheated or broke up with him so he hasn’t done anything wrong. He just isn’t being attentive. If it’s a problem you should break up with him. Josh is a good kid, if he wanted to hurt you I am sure this other Josh would have already done something.” Hope said before moving to look out the window.
[Henry]
“You don’t hear them every night. That project ended days ago and I was just pushed aside for his new friend. You can’t tell me you know for sure he didn’t cheat because the other Josh said he was doing that after I gave him the notes for class. And Josh doesn’t even bother to come talk to me at all. It’s not like him. I just don’t know why he has forgotten about me.”
[Zach]
“I can yell at someone’s child for hurting our son which was something Josh promised he wouldn’t do. If this project was over days ago there is no excuse. None. I would be pissed off if that happened.” He tells him. “How do we know that other Josh didn’t do that with Jake after telling our son that?”
[Hope]
“What has he done that has hurt Henry? Not talk to him? For fuck sake knock on the door. He leaves next door. They have class everyday. You don’t want to be ignored then do something about it. On the grand scheme of what he could be doing, ignoring you for a project he isn’t doing isn’t a big deal. You and your siblings turn everything into such a big fucking problem. Henry, if you don’t like how your boyfriend treats you, tell him or break up with him. Moping around does nothing.” She snapped.
[Henry]
“I tried to talk to him and he blew me off multiple times and said we would talk later. I would come around and he would give the same excuse.” He said before his eyes flashed blue when Hope snapped at him. “I wanted advice not to be ridiculed by my mother. You aren’t here for all this stuff you have been saying. I already did that was why I told dad. I didn’t know what else to do and you and dad went through this so I just wanted help. If you can’t help me get out of my room.”
[Zach]
Zach was taken back when Hope snapped at Henry. “Hope, stop. He is already upset enough. What the hell got into you? It’s not like you to snap at him?” He asks as he goes over to her.
He looked at her and cupped her cheeks so she had to look at him. “What happened? Are you okay?” Zach asks in concern.
[Hope]
“Ridiculed?” She laughed at the word before watching feeling Zach cupping her cheeks. She looked up at him and pulled away, “Don’t.” She said softly before moving over to Henry. “You don’t even know what being ridiculed actually feels like. You can’t handle this, a boy ignoring you, you wouldn’t last a second with what me and your father went through. You need to grow the fuck up.” She says before pulling away smiling, “I don’t want to be here anyway.” She said before moving past Henry and stepping outside.
[Henry]
“You don’t get it.” He says as he watches his father following Hope outside. The male slammed his door as his eyes turned red in anger before seeing a letter on the floor in Hallie’s handwriting. His eyes returned to normal. “What is this?” The male picked it up off the floor and opened it.
[Hallie]
Hi Henry,
I know it’s weird to write you a letter, but if I use my phone that will just make dad this much closer to finding me. I am sorry for the last minute notice but I am going to be leaving for a while. I won’t be able to call or check on you because you know…dad is crazy and I don’t want him to find me. You don’t have to worry about me though, I am just leaving until I get better. Don’t think I’m running away with Emmett. That’s over. Probably for the best when I think about it. And I am just going to focus on me for a while. I hope to come back…stronger…happier. I don’t know.
I promise I will be back before your next prom, I feel like I owe that to you. Keep being the one kid everyone can count on. I am sure people will look at you more now and I am so incredibly sorry for that. I let you and everyone down. But I know that you are going to continue to do amazing things and make everyone so proud. Just keep in mind it’s okay to make mistakes. You are an adult so stop acting like one. Enjoy being young with no responsibilities as long as you can. Make mistakes and learn from them and become better. You are not perfect, and you don’t have to be. I love you and I promise I will be back before you miss me too much. Stay out of my room.
Love you,
Hallie
