Do I need to do my makeup specifically for D&D? No. Do I do it anyways?
Absolutely. Valindra deserves no less.
My database review: 'SELECT MAX(CNT)'
My goblin brain: "oooh yes, let's see who's serving the most cunt!"
Just finished watching God of War Ragnarök, and WOW do I have Thoughts™. Absolute masterpiece, 9/10 to watch. Don't know that it'd be as good to play, the combat didn't seem to be engaging in every encounter, but the story and character writing really brought it together.
But the interesting thing imo is that I don't think you could get a payoff like this in a series started today. Ignoring capitalist tendencies and Games as a Service bullshit, God of War 1, 2, and 3 just... Weren't up to the standards of games we expect today. The heavy QTE-fests of the first three, plus the really flat characters would make God of War 1-3 probably flop at this point. But a lot of those aspects directly feed into how Ragnarök works, and you wouldn't have the payoffs without those games being exactly what they were. The first three games set up the payoff of the soft reboot in a way that wouldn't work with deep, complex characters. There's only so much development someone can undergo before it feels like it rehashes the same arcs. It's a fascinating thing to look at and honestly at this point I think God of War is the only series to really pull it off.
At the risk of spending too much time on this post I'm gonna leave it there, even if I have many many more thoughts.
I'm still not over the new D&D UA. Spells not critting?? Auto-success on a nat 20 on skill checks??? Inspiration being RAW????? Like what in the fuck was going on there? Like there are some good changes, I like the whole background system they have going on. Further decoupling your stats from your race is great, and feats at first level are honestly a home rule I would've adapted in the future anyway. But like damn, some of those changes are just not good.
Oh FUCK that ending tho! Brennan Lee Mulligan is killing it, he's doing a fan-fucking-tastic job of bringing the Age of Arcanum to life, and I am beyond excited for more!
Thank you Brennan Lee Mulligan for bringing Bolo into our lives.
I feel like if Elden Ring style messages were available in real life, the best place for them would be college. Despair, sleep deprivation, and immaturity would combine in wonderful new ways.
