I’ve listened to No Doubt for awhile but this is the first time I’m like “Damn these songs are so Hera”. I have some in my Aphrodite and Persephone playlists but like omg a lot of them make me think of Hera talking to Zeus...

Hera’s Summer Playlist

Task: Summer Playlist

1. Wild Horses by Natasha Bedingfield This is a song that Hera has identified with since it came out. She had never had the courage to outright say no to something that she wasn’t sure she wanted. Hera had gone through with the political marriage with Zeus because she wanted to help others. And for a time because she believed Zeus might love her. This song exemplifies her escapist daydreaming much of the time, and she plays it frequently when her husband is not home.

2. Firework by Katy Perry Typicall used as a cliche fourth of july song by the Americans, but for Hera it’s a song about optimism and hope. The song makes her be able to believe something good will come. She also just enjoys belting out the lyrics while she is in the shower.

3. Uptown Girl by Billy Joel It tells the story of a man who comes from a different social circle but wants to wow this uptown girl. To be loved and pursued in such a way is appealing to Hera, and she can see herself in the position of the Uptown Girl, a fun little fantasy with a male pursuer. Naturally in this fantasy, her husband wouldn’t hurt that man.

4. A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton Not a highbrow sort of song, but Hera adores songs about love and the longing to be with someone. And not just the longing, but the lengths at which someone will go to be able to be with that person. Of course Hera loves this song.

5. I wanna dance with somebody (who loves me) by Whitney Houston It’s a part of her summer playlist, but she is always careful to play this when her husband is not home. It wouldn’t do to let him be aware of just how unsatisfied she is. And Whitney Houston was a gift to the world according to Hera.

6. Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles Hera has always felt that George Harrison was the underappreciated Beatle. Here Comes the Sun is one of her alltime favorite songs. It is also a perfect song, she feels, for England, since it rains more than anything else, and the sun coming out is the epitome of the summer time.
