🌿 Useful tools for herb picking
A lot of witches might want to connect with nature and save a buck, by getting some of the herbs they use in their practice from nature around, for example a nearby forest.
This can help localize your practice and allow you to better appreciate the nature available to you and let you use non-imported herbs.
So here are some tools I found are good to have when going out on some herb adventures.
🍃 Knife - Or scissors, it helps to better take the part of the plant you want without damaging it more than necessary. It's giving you something, so you better appreciate it!
🌿 Identification app - Not everyone can look at a plant and know what it is right away, including me, so it helps to have an app that can help you out. I use iNaturalist, it shows you suggestions it thinks the plant might be, or you can search for what you think it is, and if you happen to get it wrong, other people can correct you.
🌲 Map - Be it digital or physical, it helps, especially when you're going into a forest. You can draw in the forest paths a normal map wouldn't have, mark your finds and all the secret spots you find along the way. The app I mentioned before lets you save the location of all your finds. This also helps to plan your outings to get the herbs you are looking for without wandering around for hours.
🌻 Grimoire/Notebook with plant info - To help plan your outings, mute useful to have the info you need neatly by your side. When the plants grow, when they blossom, what are the correspondences, are they safe to burn/eat, etc. Be sure to educate yourself about the herbs before using them!
🌱 Liquid fertilizer - Balance is important, so when you take from the plant, be sure to give back as well! Liquid fertilizer is easy to use and carry around, and can also be made at home. But be sure the kind you are using is good for the plants you plan to use it on!
🥀 Little bags - This one is a no brainer, having the herbs you're collecting getting mixed up is not good, so seperate those babies!
Of course, going out somewhere for hours, looking for plants can get boring when you've done it dozen times before, so, I recommend having music or a podcast to listen to.
Now go and gave fun with the herbs! 💞
