i feel that herbert is mischaracterized a lot as very stern and seriouse (and i admit i get sucked into this too in art/fics i make cus its easy to go overboard with the stereotypes) when in reality he is a freak ass ragebaiter who makes terrible puns at the worst moments and is also so pathetic and petty and always looks like a frightened small animal or a pouty twink. we dont give him enough credit for how sassy and just fucking hilarious and insane he is

edit: HE IS SERIOUS ABOUT STUFF and especially in his own head, just not the broody completely stone cold serious.

re watching reanimator and it's just like. dude. dan isnt even just 'down bad' for herbert, no, hes down lower than hell for herbert. he watched herbert shove a syringe full of green glowstick juice into a corpse (not to mention dan checked it out), saw it sit up, and immediately MURDER his fiances dad, and still said 'mmm yeah gonna stick around' like dan isnt even enabling herberts behavior. hes actively supporting it. herbert, at 3am, could whisper in his ear, "daniel lets commit medical atrocities together" and dans already getting his shoes on. he never signed up for science but by god did he sign up for that evil twink

au where Dan doesn't leave Herbert behind and DESPERATELY does not want to testify against him and Herbert has the expert idea to get married. I mean, it makes sense, right? They've lived together for at least several months, they're with each other an absurd amount of time for no discernible reason, Dan hasn't been seen with a woman since Meg died- oh, and when they think about it, had Herbert EVER been seen with a woman? You know really it does make sense...

either make it because gay marriage is legal OR bonus points it's because Herbert is trans and, because he's technically legally marked as a woman on all of his documents, the marriage IS legal. (I'm a firm believer that all of trans!herbert's papers are forged but I would ignore it for this)
