Humans Suck, But You Have to Learn to Deal With It.
I’ve gone on several tirades about people not acknowledging simple facts about human behavior, and that fact being that people aren’t inherently good.
Although altruism is ideal, that’s not always going to be the case - because most people have an agenda. And if you don’t meet that agenda - depending on the person - the consequences can range from mildly annoying to life-altering.
Also, all of us have been guilty of adopting a herd mentality, but that too can arise from necessity. If one is to survive in their surroundings, they have to follow the “norms” of the crowd in which they find themselves, even if they don’t agree.
There are those moments when it’s necessary to break the tide, and cause chaos, because change - no matter how hard - can facilitate a better situation for one’s self. And if it affects others, sometimes it benefits those within the vicinity.
Referring to an oft-quoted poem by Robert Frost, I personally prefer “the road not taken.” Why? Because I personally believe that time away from the masses allows a person to take a step back and reevaluate themselves, their lives, and allow them to observe others around them.
In hopes that they learn from other’s mistakes, and not repeat them in their own lives.
