To Escape Brutality
Adult female: Jorōgumo, tabby kit between front paws: Lycosidae, solid black kit: Widow, torbie kit: Recluse, tortie kit: Weaver, black and white kit: Dewdrop.
Jorōgumo was born alongside her brother Tsuchigumo (although they were born under different names) but were given to the Herdlands Clutter as teens were they forced into being brawlers (the cats forced to fight each other and other animals (sometimes to death) by Alpine in the name of entertainment), they were assigned to group with Alpine's favorite brawler at the time, Amarok, who had been a fodder kit originally (what it sounds like, he was intended to be killed as a kitten in one of the shows) but was now a top-tier brawler. The three quickly became inseparable and the siblings also quickly became high level brawlers, forming a team withing the arena, and secretly a romance between Jorōgumo and Amarok.
One day after a won battle where the other party was dispatched under Alpine's order they were sprung into a favorite game of Alpine's, survive the hounds, already battered and unable to move quick enough Tsuchigumo was almost instantly killed, Amarok luckily still had enough reaction time left to grab Jorōgumo and get out of reach of the dogs long enough to satisfy Alpine.
That night while still feeling the throws of grief Jorōgumo and Amarok escaped the medical bay for the brawlers with the assistance of a fellow low rank cat, and they traveled for days before meeting fellow escapee of the Clutter, Kestrel (and his kits Falcon and Hawk) and now a member of a roving group led by a cat named Evergreen, they traveled with them for a bit before settling in a stretch of unclaimed mountain territory outside of the clans. They end up having their litter around two moons after their escape, which was a surprise since Jorōgumo didn't even know she was pregnant.
Alpine likes to name/rename his brawlers with mythology related names, so if a he gains interest in a cat set for the arena they got a new name. Amarok has no idea what his name was before as fodder kits are called a number in the games and he was young for his and right after it he was promoted to a brawler where they started calling him Amarok. Jorōgumo just reclaimed the name after escaping, keeping her cult assigned name.
