PSA if your following tab is only showing you really old stuff, I think tumblr rolled out some sneaky algorithm for it but there’s a fix!

If you go to Settings > General Settings> Dashboard preferences you can turn off “best stuff first”. That put my following tab back in chronological order. There are some other things you can turn off as well.

in your opinion, do you think people will read reader inserts more or OC? I have a new story but idk if I want to do reader insert of have my own flawed character. I just want more people to enjoy it

Also before anything else, Kudos to you for being brave enough to put your work out there! It's not as easy as some might think and I am really proud and happy to hear about this <3

Now, from what I have seen so far in the BTS fandom, MemberxReader fics are more popular, simply because of the sheer amount of them. For every OC fic, there are probably 20 reader inserts out here on Tumblr, so in a way, it isn't even a fair comparison. While reader inserts do tend to gain popularity easily, that doesn't mean that OC one's don't. Personally, some of my favourite BTS fics are ones with named OCs that have a fixed identity. 

Honestly? As long as your plot is interesting, paced well and your characters don't have paper, dry one-dimensional personalities your story will do good. Regardless of if it is a reader insert or not. 

Also, there are plenty of ways you can boost your work on Tumblr. You could write readerxmember one-shots, as most people will follow you because they love your writing style and not just because of one particular story. Plus, there are fanfiction networks for BTS here, that reblog their members work and will help you get your story out there, so exposure is something you don't have to worry about!

My advice is to make sure that your first chapter, from your first line to the last period is all well thought out and written well. Proper use of Tags and networks will give you exposure, but it's your first chapter that brings you, readers. 

At the end of the day, it's your choice as a writer what you want to write. Don't force yourself to write something you are not 100% invested in because it comes through, instead if you wanna write about an OC? Go for it. Like I said some of the most popular stories on AO3 are OC ones too.
