Villa "La Bluette" by Hector Guimard

Hermanville-sur-Mer, France, 1899.

This seaside villa is one of Guimard's few surviving buildings. Although Guimard achieved brief fame for his Art Nouveau entrances for the Paris Metro, tastes quickly changed. By the time of his death in 1942, many of his buildings had been demolished and he was largely forgotten. Today, his work is revered for its structural experiments and graceful curves.
