🎲 Can I get a random amount of thoughts and rambles, please? (But imagine me saying it in my best British orphan voice)

Yeah, sure. Not sure which fic you want a random ramble for so I'll go with "How to Lose a Wraith in Ten Days".

Been thinking about how to ship Todd and Hermiod and how they'd express their affection. Quips back and forth is a good start but I started thinking about how Wraith and Asgard would show affection in the physical sense.

Asgards' bodies are basically cloned repeatedly and thus lack genitalia. Wraith are bug people and probably have a similar problem. So that leaves their hands. In "The Fifth Race" (SG-1), Jack O'Neill's repository knowledge is extracted using an Asgard's hand and while that's never seen again, I think it's a very intimate gesture if Hermiod and Todd join hands to show their affection.

Asgardian intimate act of sharing knowledge through their hand, their most powerful resource coupled with Todd's feeding hand, the intimate representation of the Wraith source of life through the blood.

(Todd won't actually bleed Hermiod since, ya know, Asgards don't have blood as far as I know.)

But they'll hold hands in front of everyone and since that's an acceptable public gesture of affection for humans, no one will suspect they're alien fucking in front of the entire Daedalus crew.

Except Sheppard and McKay, who will be entirely grossed out and tell them to get a room.

Chapter Three

“The shield modifications must be set to a certain frequency to absorb the blasters, otherwise they will weaken as soon as we are within range. My rival has five Hive ships according to my intel and I cannot update the systems unless you give me Admin permissions throughout the Daedalus.”

Todd explained to Hermiod in an exasperated tone for the fifth or sixth time in the past hour. Hermiod simply glowered at him as he continued to press buttons in contempt.

Ronon had his hand on his gun, ready for any escalation. Novak hiccuped. Caldwell crossed his arms. Teyla smirked, her plans proceeding well.

“Oh yes, let me just do that,” Hermiod remarked, sarcastically, “I will give you the ‘easily overpower us’ permissions of our technology any brilliant Asgard would hand over to the enemy. Do you think I am an idiot?

“You simply tell me what you wish to input and I will carefully add your desired modifications with my genius oversight. Safety first, as Dr. McKay would say.”

Todd nearly lost it with this stubborn Assgard but that last remark had him smiling again. Aha! A weakness.

“If you wish to see Dr. McKay again, you will give me those permissions.” Todd gave the faintest glimmer of a smile.

Hermiod squinted at him, “Is that a threat?”

How to Lose a Wraith in Ten Days

Chapter Two

Ronon and Teyla came crashing through the gate at top speed, wraith blasters all around them. They entered the gateroom, turned to cover Sheppard and McKay, while dodging the blasters. But no one came through. They waited, one minute, two minutes, three minutes. The gate shut down.

“Dial the planet. They haven’t come through!” Teyla ordered, her breath quickening. She looked at Ronon, his eyes wide in worry, his mouth parted as out of breath as she was.

Chuck obliged, not waiting for Elizabeth’s go ahead. He glanced at her in worry, afraid she would protest. She didn’t. He redialed M47-404 but no connection was made. He tried again. Nothing.

“Damn!” Muttered Chuck, his cheeks flushing as he looked to Elizabeth, “Sorry, Ma’am. I can’t get a lock on the planet's gate."

She nodded, tightly, “Understood. Ronon, Teyla, please come to my office. I want to know what happened.”

“And you couldn’t reach the Asgard base before this happened?” Elizabeth’s brow furrowed in concern.

“No,” Ronon explained, “I think we were set up. But they could’ve gotten all of us. I think they wanted Sheppard and McKay, on purpose.”

“The Wraith were lying in wait. In ambush,” Teyla added, “They lured us in with the Asgard base. It was a trap for Colonel Sheppard and Dr. McKay. Our informant must have been working for them. How else would they have known we’d be at an abandoned desert planet on the outskirts of the galaxy?”

“I admit it does look like a setup. And Rodney was so sure it was safe, being a desert, there weren’t any obvious life signs to speak of.” Elizabeth folded her hands and sighed in worry, “According to Radek’s calculations, it will take the Daedalus at least ten days to reach them even with hyperspace. I’ve already contacted them and they’re on their way here. They’ll arrive in a few hours.”

“Unscheduled off-world activation!” Chuck called out as the gate began to dial, “Dr. Weir. It’s M47-404! It could be Sheppard and McKay!”

How to Lose a Wraith in Ten Days

Chapter 1 - Kidnapped for Ransom

John woke startled surrounded by darkness, a familiar rotting smell twisted his stomach in knots. The last thing he remembered was running toward the Stargate on the desert planet M47-404 beside Rodney and then, nothing. He was here, wherever here was.

The Wraith must’ve stunned him. Rodney! Where was he? Had he made it through the gate? John’s heart began pounding wildly and a sheen of sweat broke out along his brow. His eyes began adjusting to the dark and he saw a figure lying in the corner of the dank cell.

“Rodney,” John felt sick. There was Rodney, still as death, pale despite the darkness. John quickly checked for a pulse, breathing a sigh of relief when he found it. He carefully lifted his head, pulling his shoulders up and cradled him in his arms. He looked around for Teyla and Ronon. No, they wouldn’t be here. He’d watched them go through the gate.

John placed his attention back on Rodney, his eyes welling up in worry. Their weapons and tac vests had been removed. John felt over Rodney’s chest and arms carefully checking for injuries. If those bastards did anything to him…Rodney stirred in John’s arms, groaning as his eyes fluttered open.

“Rodney, it’s alright.” John soothed to keep him from panicking, “I’ve got you. Those bastards stunned us but I think that’s about it. We’re gonna be fine.”

“John…” Rodney stiffened, his eyes wide, “You sure have an odd definition of the word ‘fine.’ We’ve been captured by the Wraith! Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m…fine,” John smirked at him, then softened, “Just worried about you is all. Ronon and Teyla got through the gate. They should be back soon with a rescue party. Hopefully, it won’t be too long.”

“John?” Rodney’s beautiful blue eyes staring at him, big as saucers.

“Hmm?" John admired him, lovingly, in his arms.

“You can probably sit me up now,” Rodney bit his lip adorably.

“I know,” John admitted without moving at all. He continued to cradle him, “We need to figure out who’s got us and what they want us for. The last time we talked to Todd, he said he was working on gathering an Armada of Hives to go up against a rogue Wraith who’d taken over from his queen. It better not be Todd that’s got us. We’re supposed to be allies.”
