The Morning After || closed
The last thing a waitress coming off a double shift usually wants is a late night. Usually, the most that can be desired is a hot shower, a quick bite to eat, and then a swan dive into bed to sleep for as long as possible.
Upon waking to her phone alarm, Estella has a brief moment of panic. Is she late? Does she have to get up for work? Wait...no...it’s her day off. And...
And she hadn’t gone to bed alone.
A warm, weary feeling is in her muscles, the slight soreness of limbs well-used, an echo of remembered pleasure. For several seconds, she just lays there, still tangled in the sheets, cheeks turning pink as she recalls the events of the previous evening.
The other side of the bed is empty, but she expected that. Probably for the best. She’s awful at these things, and probably won’t be able to look the crimson-eyed Cajun in the face if they happen to meet again.
Then she realizes that she smells coffee.
“What in the...?”

The citizens of New York City have many protectors. All of them have powers beyond people’s wildest imagination. These superheroes and those that keep their secrets as a team call themselves The Betwixt. These heroes and their allies are soon to gain a new member of their ranks after one of them saved a young woman.
“Really young woman,” Geist said as he smiled at her after pulling her out of the way. “Be more careful. Name’s Geist by the way. Let me get you’re number after I finish with this,” he said, teleporting himself quickly back into the battle and soon finishing.
"Seriously. What's the point of the costume? I see no point in having a costume."
It had been only a few months since the god decided to play a new game. Well, it was a game to him, even if it wasn't a game to the mortals in the city. Memphis was not a town that had heroes; it was not like New York or San Francisco or any other big ones that had a lot of activity. That was for the best; the god wished to have fun not expose himself to unneeded activity. There was also the fact that the city shared the name of a city in his homeland; and if he was understanding this heroing thing, he had to follow the rules.
He didn't even have to change his name; no one would suspect that a god would use his real name when fighting crime. It was almost comical.
But he was not here to fight crime. No, he was here to welcome a new hero. He did like to keep tabs on everyone that came into his city. His city... how funny that he called it that.
"I believe I am normally supposed to make a joke about the suit you wear, but that seems rather uncalled for and I confess that I am not known for my humor."
The dark skinned, older man offered a weary smile to the girl. His body was adorned with many golden rings in places, and he wore robes that seemed extremely authentic. He wore a jackal mask, although it only covered his eyes and nose; had to leave his mouth uncovered. He looked the part his followers played in ages past, that of a priest. A warrior priest in this case, but a priest nonetheless.
"So, allow me to instead welcome you to my city."
