Guess who's rereading Hero's Shadow again! It might actually kill me this time 🤗🤗🤗

Have you read hero's shadow (My Hero Academia)?
Yes, I am/was in the fandom
Yes, but I’m not in the fandom
No, but I’m in the fandom

Summary: Izuku doesn’t cry. He is a weapon, and weapons don’t weep. He won’t cry until the battle, when he’s falling through the air, when it settles in just how real it is that he’s going to die, because yeah, the doctor warned him this would happen, but there’s always been a part of Izuku that thought he’d live forever. Just like his father told him. Or, how a few heroes help Midoriya Izuku become something more than a lost vigilante.

Hero's shadow
The Hero’s Shadow
Been playing Ocarina of Time and had to paint my favourite mini boss, Dark Link!
For once finished fanart for @feelingstqbby 's fic hero's shadow. It's kinda a scene from chapter 27.
Holy shit this fic is so good. I'm laughing and crying at the same time while reading. This fic has everything i could wish for. Dadzawa, dfo, vigilante!izuku, DADMIC, sassy!izuku, badass!izuku, god, the list is endless. Go read it, it's amazing.
Nat, i love you ♥
Dirty Imbecile/hero's shadow Analysis
ok so I've loved this particular song for a while: Dirty Imbecile by The Happy Fits, and there's this fanfic I've read recently called hero's shadow by @feelingstqbby and if yOU HAVENT READ IT YET WHAT R YOY DOING but anyways I realized the lyrics kinda fit with Izuku in the fic. So I'll be doing a lil song analysis; haven't done this before, might get long, but here we go:
'If I'm so smart and I'm so pretty
Damn this town and damn this city
You never give me anything that I want'
The first and second lines could be a reference to Izuku's identity as Rabbit. The first line reminded me a bit of Izuku's sense of humor and the way that he talks as Rabbit. The third could do with his homelessness or "you" could refer to All for One and how Izuku keeps himself from doing/having things and relationships out of fear of his past catching up to him.
'No one seems to really care
They're just wholly unaware
Of all the blood and sweat I cry before dawn'
In this part, the first line could be Izuku's inability to really understand why anyone would genuinely want to take care of him, especially adults. And the second and third lines fit well with the fact that so few people actually know about his whole situation with the League and the sickness, so he's just suffering in silence.
'But you won't understand
All the things that I am
Cause' I'm crazy in just too many ways'
I think this whole part could do with Izuku's turmoil of telling any adults about his affiliation with the League, because of the consequences that could come out of it. And IDK the third line just kind of relates to how batshit crazy his life is.
'But I get that little feel
When my heart starts beating, lungs stop breathing
All my fibers say to run away'
This piece could very well describe the adrenaline Izuku probably felt when he GTFO of the League hideout after burning it down.
'Count my little scars, I've got dozens down inside'
This is one of my favorite lines in the song, and I think it fits Izuku really well. People like All Might and Aizawa see his physical scars, but they haven't the slightest idea of the internal scars/trauma Izuku carried from his past with AfO.
'I am complete and invincible, behind my dirty imbecile
All the the things I've tried, boy: be cute, be dumb, be wise, be young
So don't tell me what to fear in the darkness of this atmosphere'
These lines kind of revolve around the identity of Rabbit. The first line could be how Izuku feels strong and confident behind the mask and pretends everything is fine; the second would be the identities/personas he's made up, but he can't find one to feel properly safe in. And finally the third line is Izuku being truly aware of how terrible people/humanity can be what with the League and criminal underground, and due to his past experiences, he knows what (who) to really be afraid of in the "dark".
'Love my mum and love my daddy
Sure they messed me up but that is
Voices that they left inside of my head'
This is another one of my favorite lines of the song. It's kind of obvious it's referencing Izuku and his relationship with his parents; what with Inko leaving to go get that milk and peacing out and Hisashi busy being the CEO of Evil. The last line then could show the trauma/flashbacks Izuku was left in the dust with.
'Am I good? Is all I could
Enough for you?'
This is a line I really love too, because it could be like a parallel of Izuku speaking to All for One and All Might. I can just imagine a much younger Izuku saying these lines to AfO, and then fast forward to him saying this to All Might, just wanting to give it his all to be a good successor.
Finally that sort of scream/howl at the end of the song maybe represents how much Izuku is holding inside and just wants to let it all come bursting out, damn the consequences.
wow that took a while but the whole analysis thing was kinda fun; i can see why deku has like 15 notebooks full of this kinda shit. anyways once again go read hero's shadow if you haven't already, and if you did, go read it again.
