“Stiles! Stiles!” Lydia’s voice was already so raspy and hoarse it killed her to have to scream out to him, but he was nowhere near her. She could feel the deadly fog begin to sting her skin but she had to find Stiles. “Please, Stiles! Where are you? I need you to come back to me.” Her voice slowly started to fade out as the pain got too unbearable.
“Lydia?” A shockingly loud voice shouted from behind the trees. “Lydia don’t worry I’m here, I’m here.” Stiles rushed to Lydia and she bounced into his arms. “I was so worried about you.” Lydia was just barely able to croak out.
“As much as I am loving this reunion we have to go now!” Just like that Stiles and Lydia sprinted to the clearing in the middle of the woods hoping there would be something, then suddenly Stiles tripped and fell from a metal bar sticking up from the ground. He tried to get up and continue running but he could barely.
Lydia fell to the ground and found that the metal bar was a handle. She lifted up the hatch to reveal a hidden underground bunker.
“C'mon Stiles, in here!” Lydia screamed out. She was just barely able to get Stiles inside and close the door before the fog engulfed them. Lydia quickly felt for any source of light. Then proceeded to help Stiles up onto the bed. “How bad does it hurt?” Lydia choked out, as she was examining his ankle. She lightly presses two fingers to his ankle and he screamed in plain. “Does it hurt that badly?? I’ll find some bandages and try to set it.“No Lydia come back.” She turned around with haste. “Look at what I found.” Stiles holds out his very clenched hand to reveal a small red ornament. “Merry Christmas.” Lydia gasped, “Where did you find that?” She insists. “From right there.” Stiles reaches over and points to a small Christmas tree near the bed. “Come here Lydia.” Lydia crawled into his arms. “I’ve never been happer than I am with you, and I’ve always wanted to spend Christmas together. I love you.” Stiles dried her tears and she manged to say, “I love you too.”

Despite the fact that it was approximately 57 degrees and Christmas Eve in the town of Beacon Hills, Stiles and Lydia’s condo was adorned with everything christmas-y. From the tree that sat in the corner to the fake snow art that Lydia had painted on the window, there wasn’t a single corner of their home that wasn’t decorated. There was a garland hanging off the electric fireplace and fairy lights decorated the entire place. The white lights of the Christmas tree shone against the dark window where the night had taken over the sky as Lydia made her way around the apartment, cleaning up the mess they had made while wrapping, picking up the bows and ribbons and scraps of wrapping paper that had been scattered the floor.
Stiles silently creeped up behind Lydia, following her until he was close enough to wrap his arms around her waist and place an abundance of kisses on the exposed skin on her neck thanks to the messy bun placed atop her head.
“Stiles!” she giggled, tossing her head back in reckless abandon before turning around to face him, her fingers lacing together behind his neck, his own hands finding their way around her waist. “You know,” she teased, “there wasn’t any mistletoe. What’s your excuse for kissing me?”
“Do I need one?” he asked. “I’m celebrating christmas with the woman I love. I don’t exactly think an excuse is mandatory in this situation.”
“Good answer,” she said, placing a gentle peck on his lips.
They were interrupted by an ear piercing shriek. Lydia winced away from the kiss and turned to look in the direction of the noise, witnessing the little brown haired girl with her hands over her green eyes. Lydia giggled, her hand gently coming up over her mouth.
“Oh, Claudia,” Lydia smiled, rushing over to pick up her daughter. “What’s wrong?”
“You two… you guys were kissing,” she said, making a face and sticking out her tongue, shaking her head aggressively.
“And do you have a problem with that, C?” Lydia asked.
Claudia pouted. “Yeah.”
“And why is that, pumpkin?” Stiles asked, ruffling Claudia’s long brown hair, which got him the evil eye from the little Stilinski munchkin.
“Because it’s gross!” she cried out.
Stiles and Lydia looked at each other, smiling, rolling their eyes.
“But Mommy kisses you all the time, Clauds, and so does Daddy,” Lydia reasoned.
“It’s different.”
“How?” Stiles inquired.
“I… I don’t know. It just is.”
“Well, darling,” Lydia said, making her way over to the couch, sitting down and placing their daughter between herself and Stiles. “Mommy and Daddy love each other very much. And sometimes, we kiss to show each other that we love each other. Yes it’s different, but it’s the same way we kiss you to show you that we love you.”
“Really?” Claudia asked.
“Yep, really,” Stiles added, giving Claudia a peck on the cheek and then giving Lydia the same thing. “See? Dad loves you both, and that’s just one way to show it.”
“I… I think I get it now,” she said. “But it’s still weird.”
Lydia laughed.
“Of course it is, pumpkin,” Stiles told her.
That night, Claudia wrote a note to Santa and left out some milk and cookies for the jolly man as well as some carrots for his reindeer posse. A magic key for the condo was left outside the front door and Stiles and Lydia tucked their daughter into bed.
The couple shared more than one whispered laugh about Claudia’s reactions earlier in the day, giving each other gentle kisses as they sipped hot cocoa and wrapped Santa’s gifts, placing them gently under the tree before cuddling up in their king sized bed and shutting their eyes for the night, tangled together in pure bliss.
“Mommy! Daddy! It’s Christmas Day!”
Stiles and Lydia are awoken by a shouting voice, and their little girl has run full force into their bedroom, jumping up and down on their bed to wake them up. The pair looks at each other, slowly awaking, smiling.
Ella Fitzgerald is playing on the speakers and the 1960’s style christmas jazz has been Stiles’ favourite tradition since he began to celebrate christmas with Lydia. Claudia rips into her presents, devouring them as if they were edible. She receives a new dress that she had been begging Stiles to get for her, a few Barbie dolls and some games. She is overjoyed with every gift she receives.
Once all of her gifts have been unwrapped, she gasps, runs to her room after grabbing a gift bag and some wrapping paper that she has torn off of one of her gifts. Lydia looks at Stiles, slightly confused, but he doesn’t seem to have an answer as to why the little girl has dashed out of the living quarters with such odd supplies either.
“Claudia?” Lydia calls.
“One second!” she replies back, and Stiles hears the rustle of the wrapping paper being shoved somewhere.
“Pumpkin, what are you doing with that wrapping paper?” he asks.
“You’ll see!”
She comes back into the room moments later, the wrapping paper haphazardly shoved into the gift bag and she hands it to them. “It’s for both of you.”
Stiles catches Lydia’s glance, and he carefully takes the gift from Claudia, disposing of the wrapping paper that was on top and pulling out a hand drawn picture on a piece of white construction paper. It is captioned.
Mommy and Daddy love each other very much.
And they love me very much too.
The picture includes stick figures of Stiles and Lydia, kissing, with Claudia in the middle.
Stiles sees Lydia wipe a tear from her cheek.
“Oh no Mommy!” Claudia cries. “Don’t cry!” she says as she wraps her arms around her mother’s stomach. “I didn’t mean to make you sad…”
“Oh don’t worry, baby,” Lydia says, pulling her daughter into her lap. “Mommy’s crying because she’s happy. So happy to have both of you,” She says, kissing Claudia on the forehead, Stiles on the lips.
This time, Claudia does not wince. Instead, she beams proudly at her parents and when Lydia sees her smiling, it takes all the might in her not to burst into more tears of happiness.

who am i, darling to you?
summary: [ inspired by ben howard’s song promise ] somewhere along the lines of 5b, after lydia has been rescued and stiles and lydia are single once again, lydia finally tells stiles what she means to him wc: 1145
Stiles Stilinski has had a crush on Lydia Martin since the third grade and he has always known that to him she is perfection, wrapped up in one pale skinned, green eyed, strawberry blonde, 5’3 banshee.
He has not always known where she stands in regards to him. And he wants to.
He wants to know if she thinks about him too, if every now and then he invades her dreams the way she does with his. Wants to know, simply, if she cares about him in the same way.
But as life went along, it became more and more likely that the connection Stiles wanted there to be, simply wasn’t. She fell in and out of love with an abundance of boys, ranging from the blonde haired brute that was Jackson Whittemore to the boy who was a little too bad for her that went by the name of Aiden. And yet, none of these boys were Stiles.
And then one day, everything changed.
And she kissed him.
And he no longer was convinced that her love for him was a distant dream.
But then life happened, and people died and he gave her the space that he thought she needed. Didn’t invade her and didn’t smother her in fear that she might push him away, because, in reality, that was the last thing he wanted.
But he did that himself when he began to date a certain Malia Tate.
Pushed her right into the arms of Jordan Parrish as he pushed Malia away because he knew that it was always going to be Lydia.
How, now, he found her in front of him, in tears, was another story, one that he wasn’t sure how to tell. Wasn’t sure how to explain that Lydia had once again given her heart away to the wrong guy and had it broken and shattered in the same places it had splintered before.
After Sheriff Stilinski had found out about the relationship between the banshee and the hellhound, he didn’t think it was the most appropriate. How would the town react to the Deputy dating the Sheriff’s son’s best friend? And so he shut it down.
(Without Stiles’ interference or influence, may he add.)
Parrish had told Lydia that it was between her and his job, and if he wanted to stay apart of the force, that he couldn’t be with her anymore.
Stiles wanted to clock him in the head for making such a boneheaded decision. Who, in their right mind, would break Lydia Martin’s heart?
Apparently the list was growing.
She had gone to Parrish in hopes that maybe she’d be protected with him around. That what had happened to her in that asylum wouldn’t happen again if she had someone strong and willing to help her defend herself.
Instead, he threw her back into that pit of destruction without a single thing to defend herself with, and without someone to help her pull herself out.
Stiles had decided that was where he came in. To help her realize that she didn’t need him. She was perfectly capable of defending herself, and her own heart.
“Lydia Martin, you need to hear me out,” he said, placing his hand on her arm in a comforting manner. “You are the most brave, smart, intelligent and stunning girl I have ever met in my entire life. And anyone in their right mind would realize how lucky they would be to have you. And if Parrish can’t see that, then he’s blind,” Stiles insisted.
He swore he saw a smile flicker through her tear streaked face, but it disappeared as soon as it had arrived.
“Stiles I-“ she stuttered, choking up a little as her voice cracked with the aching of her heart. “I’m not here for that. I’m not here for a speech about how you think he doesn’t deserve me… I- I’m here because…”
“Because why?” he questioned, cocking his head, not quite understanding where she was going with this.
“Because I finally understand.”
“Lydia, you’re going to have to give me a little more than that, you kno-“
She interrupted his speech with a kiss, letting her lips interlock with his for the second time in their lifespans, his eyes went wide before he let himself immerse himself in the moment, and then he pulled away, gently, just as shocked as he was the first time.
“What was that for?” he asked.
“Because it’s you, Stiles. It’s been you for who knows how long, but then you started dating Malia and I thought you had moved on right when I was about to tell you that I felt the same way. And so I went to Parrish, hoping I could move on, too. But now you two aren’t together anymore and neither are we and I can’t. I can’t lose you to someone else, Stiles.”
He didn’t let her say another word, interrupting her this time with a kiss, the first one that he had the pleasure of initiating.
“Lydia,” he whispered, forehead pressed up against hers, “I have loved you since the third freaking grade. It’s always been you. I just never thought this could end up being an us.”
“Do… do you think we could make it an us?” she asked, cautiously, a few tears running down her cheek. Stiles idly brushed them away, a gentle finger on her cheek.
“Yeah, I think we could give it a shot.”
She stays at his house for the first time that night. They share the pleasure of initiating the simple human contact that seems too natural for a pair of people who have just decided to become a couple. A kiss on the cheek, a small hug here and there, a chaste (or not-so-chaste) kiss on the lips. They whisper sweet nothings in each other’s ears as the night goes on, never missing a chance to do something that will either get the other a smack on the shoulder or a kiss. They fall asleep facing each other with their fingers entwined, buried under the covers, Stiles adorned in just his pyjama pants and Lydia in one of his oversized shirts that hangs a little bit too loose on her petite frame. They cannot seem to take their eyes off of one another, and her eyelids shut only when she finds she cannot keep them open any longer. She learns that night that he is the little spoon and she finds that oddly calming when she wakes up and her arm is wrapped around him, his back pressed to her chest and their fingers entwined in front of Stiles’ sleeping body. She kisses his shoulder and he stirs, waking up slowly as he turns to face her and lets their lips interlock once more, knowing that this time definitely will not be the last.
so this took me awhile but i finally got the time to sit down and pick the first batch of blogs for the hero and the banshee network! it was extremely hard to pick people - everyone who applied seemed so passionate and flawless. yet somehow miraculously i managed. out of forty applicants, i’ve chosen thirty-two for this cycle, which is insane because i was initially planning to have only 15-20 members at the moment, but i’m terrible at having to pick & choose and everyone was just so awesome so… yay, I guess - the more the merrier. anyway, if you weren’t chosen, I plan on adding more members later, so you’re definitely next in line. =)
and now without further ado, here are the members of the hero and the banshee stydia network:
if you’ve been accepted, please go refer back to this post to know what to do next, and thank you to everybody who applied, & congratulations to those who are now part of the brand new network! i will be sending you all a personal message in your inbox to welcome you to the group, so expect that as well.
