Please welcome Alyssa as the main page’s new moderator! I realize that in order to keep everything running as smoothly as possible, you guys and new potential members need a page that’s regularly updated, which is something I’ve been struggling to do by myself. I’ve enlisted Alyssa to help me with doing a lot of these background type of work, so whenever you’re admiring how up-to-date the pages and bios are from now on, be sure to show her lots of love!
This is the part where I synthesize everything I received and tell you guys what I’m going to try to implement that takes what you all told me into consideration. Even if you didn’t send any feedback, this post is rather important so please read it. As for those who didn’t get around to liking the post as the instructions said, you have a week from now (until 3/24) to get in contact with me if you want to stay in the RPG.
For the top three priorities, everybody seemed to agree on New Bios, Events, and Plot Updates.
New Bios: People have offered to write bios for the RPG and I am SO incredibly thankful for this. This will definitely be something we’ll focus on. Old bios will be archived so that there will be room for more fresh faces and roles.
There will be a new section of categorizing bios on the main page for characters who identify themselves as being outside of the gender binary system.
Events: These will definitely remain on the Dashboard. I will try to have a mixture of set prompts/pairings but allow more freeform interactions for characters without the prompts/pairings. There will still be a limit on how many characters can participate.
Plot Updates: I will continue these since most people like having a direction to go in between events. A new thing I will try out is Plot Pairs where I pair up certain characters and give them either a specific prompt or just a list of suggestions to write about. These prompts will not be extremely plot heavy since the intention is to get people to branch out and form new relationships with other characters.
Activity checks will still retain the same level of leniency as before since everybody has their own business to tend to and by no means am I trying to make this RPG feel like a job for you guys.
Although actual activity checks will be held on a monthly basis, in order to make sure people aren’t simply taking advantage of our flexibility, we will check to see if people are simply logging in once a month to pass the activity check. You will be sent three reminders to at least have some sort of ongoing plot happening before any action will be taken.
In regards to Hiatuses, these will be monitored more regularly so that people aren’t simply disappearing and leaving other players hanging on threads.
The blog didn’t take off as much as I hoped, but it was still a fun experiment while it lasted. I will take the blog down and we will all be solely using a chat for our OOC interactions instead.
The chat that I’ve decided to stick with that gives us the convenience of a Chatzy and private messaging features of GroupMe is Telegram. There are apps for this chat available for all mobile platforms as well as desktop apps for PC/Mac/Linux, but if you’re not into all that there’s also the web version. You will need to sign up with your phone number but nobody will ever see this.
For existing members: once you sign up for an account message me and I’ll send you a link so I can add you to the group chat.
Welcoming committee: New members always get a welcome from the main but I think it would be even better if two or three members could also volunteer to welcome new members when they come as well. Every few months or so, I’ll try to rotate who will be part of the committee so everybody gets a chance to welcome new members.
Starters: Please tag the locations of where each gif-interaction is taking place if it is not explicitly stated in the writing.
Before you make a new starter:
> Please look at the starters that are already up. Some have very few replies and this can lead to people feeling ignored if other peoples tend to only reply to people they usually interact with. If you truly feel like you can’t reply then go ahead and write a starter.
> Tips on writing a starter: Make sure that your starter is proactive rather than passive or simply reactive. It’s best to have a starter that opens itself up to engaging other characters. Don’t create a scenario for the other character where it puts them in a position that forces them to be OOC.
