Sketch of one of the corner of Namdaemun Street Market. We spent almost the entire morning shopping and browsing the stores. I was surprised to find out there are several art supply shops in that area all selling different stuff. That made the shopping experience a lot more exciting. As usual I did the lines on location and added colours later. Less tiring this way. Finally getting around to fill in colours and finished painting the ink sketch done on location at the Manatee Enclosure at the River Safari as part of Singapore Zoological Gardens. We usually take a yearly visit to see how the Manatees are doing. Recently they have included mermaids to perform in the enclosure to attract more visitors. But honestly they have over crowded the place with too many screaming and ill disciplined kids running around. I really hope the management do something about it. I am starting a new book for this month (Sep 2021) -  a very thick sketchbook called the “Nude Book” produced by a paper manufacturer in Thailand. The paper is pretty thin though so I am just sketching on one side and leaving the other side empty unlike my usual practice. However it takes ink from brush pen and dry mediums very well; watercolour not so much. The specifics of the book is as follow if you are interested.

Name: Nude BOok (M) Size: 20cm X 20cm  Weight of paper: 75 gsm Pages: 360 Source: www.labradorfactory.net According to the manufacturer, the paper is non-reflective and the entire book is sewn-bound. The book is meant as a refill for a custom designed journal cover but I like to use it like that.  I tried it with different tools. The first drawing was done with a  Pentel Pointliner 0.8mm. Works very well. The second drawing was done with my trusty Hero fountain pen 9018 filled with Le Atramentis Black Document ink. The darks by a Pentel brush pen (waterproof black ink).  It’s going to take me a long time to fill in those pages! 

PS: I was using Photopea, an online version of Photoshop to edit the lighting and contrast of my sketches.
