Sketchbook Tour May 2023
I have voted and I am proud of it. :D
Pilot Singapore sent me a Prera Fountain pen to test and maybe to make a review or 2 on my social media. I have used Pilot fountain pens in the past, but they were all straight nibs. I am a Fude nib person, and my go to pens are usually from Hero that made affordable and easy to use fountain pens. I am also curious of how a Pilot Prera works in my case. I did a few sketches on my sketchbook and quite like the result. Prera has a nice ink flow. Filling the ink is easy too because it uses an ink cartridge converter. I filled it with a chinese made fountain pen ink which is water-proof but not as pigmented as Noodlers and de-Atramentis or Platinum Carbon Black, but serves my purpose very well. I needed the ink to be waterproof in order to add watercolor wash later. I would use the Prera as a backup and will definitely carry in my pen case as it is not bulky and very light weight. Good to hold it in the pocket too. Thanks Pilot. #pilotpensg @pilotpensg

CHATTING WITH ANGMO AH MAH (as coined by James Tan)
By chance or serendipity, we sat beside a British lady who has been living in Singapore for over 60 years after arriving here in her 20s. You can roughly guess how old she is. James in his usual kaypoh self began chatting her up. She shared her life briefly and there was one moment she ‘scolded’ me for not able to speak Cantonese even though I am a Cantonese, in Cantonese. Her Cantonese was very fluent and there was no Ang Mo accent. We had a good laugh and I told her she sounded like my grandma who also said the same thing to me. Head out to James Tan’s post to read more… 😁😆😘😙🤗
Which one to go for?
I am not drawing anyone in particular but I once heard this from someone I know.
Yet another caricature of a sketch friend of mine, Tony Chua, who of all sketchers in the world has shown so much love and passion for the art of sketching on-location, and without ceasing. In this version, I drew his arms as tentacles belonging to an octopus indicating his versatility and sensibility to sketching.
Drawing a friend who uses a monopole chair when he sketches in public.
In terms of drawing, painting and sketching, I have not been very fruitful this new year and it is already middle of March. Hope you have a wonderful new year ahead! So here is a selection of random stuff I have made this year.
