“Here’s the thing about that,” Clint started, holding a hand up in attempt to show he was passive with that comment to get shot at with Jessica’s defensiveness. Then he shrugged, “Natasha doesn’t need my approval. In anything she does, ever - including you. So I’m not sayin’ I approve or don’t approve cause it really doesn’t matter. I’m sayin’ if you’re really doing this thing with her... just.... take care.”
He didn’t expect her to think much of what he said, especially when he wasn’t sure how to word it the way he felt. Take care was pretty vague but it seemed silly to say he didn’t want Natasha to get hurt. She was a strong woman, she could take care of herself - but strong people could still hurt. Clint grabbed and down the rest of his beer, figuring his words would get brushed off anyway he might as well dismiss what he was feeling with a drink.
