He definitely respects and admires Keeler! As the lead Navigator of the entire battleship, he’s calm and cool and collected, and he always seems to have a level head on his shoulders during his approach to any problem. Who knows, with growth and training, he could even become his protegee some day- I think we can definitely infer from the comic and the game they have interacted a fair amount and they have no problem being friendly to each other.
bonus: he admires cain too for the hard work he’s put in to keep them on top of the pack, and the obvious background he’s had to struggle to come out from. abel hopes some day he’ll be able to tell him just how proud he is of cain (:
