She is Latina, and the lead of the movie. Hence the movie has a Latina lead. Also a complete cyborg’s body doesn’t have to reflect the race as the brain held within. Her origins are hardly even explored until the later publications, which probably won’t be included in this film. So its essentially an opportunity to cast someone, regardless of race, and they didn’t cast ScarJo or Jennifer Lawrence so that’s a miracle in and of itself.
