My favourite writer László Krasznahorkai won the Nobel Prize in Literature c:

BOOK 32: Herscht 07769 by László Krasznahorkai
What a fantastic book. Written all in one sentence, the author does a fantastic job of making sure that we, as readers, are also confused. The one-sentence structure is perfect, also, at conveying the simple-mindedness of our protagonist and the gossipy nature of a small town. The book opens with Florian, our lovably stupid protagonist, becoming convinced that the Reverse Big Bang is imminent and Angela Merkel must be made aware of this immediately. While this kicks off our story, we also immediately find out that Florian is working for this big neo-Nazi. But somehow Florian doesn’t understand at all why this is unsavory or really why the Boss acts like he does. Florian takes the Boss at face value, namely that he really cares about cleaning up graffiti and listening to Bach. There’s honestly plenty of hilarious moments where we see the Boss trying to get Florian to participate in their raids or become more ideologically aligned with them, but poor Florian is so dense he doesn’t understand that he’s supposed to believe what the other neo-Nazis do. Throughout this book, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what crazy turn would happen next, while at the same time laughing at the imagery and the inner thoughts of other townspeople that the author gives us access to. I’m quite obsessed with how this book was written, and I’m certainly going to be thinking about the last act of this book for a while.
