Such is the state of the Republican Party and U.S. politics. Serious people have to debate aggressively & proudly ignorant, proven liars. For congressional seats. In Congress! We can draw a fairly straight line in the GOP idiocracy, from Dan Quayle, to George W. Bush, to Sarah Palin, to Donald Trump and his protégés.
Here’s what will happen with the Hershel Walker campaign after revelations that he recently paid for an abortion:
Nothing. Nothing at all.
Hypocrisy is the lifeblood of conservatism. That is its purpose and its motivation.
“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.” —Frank Wilhoit
This applies equally to social norms and the concept of forgiveness. For example, trump is forgiven for his decades of debauchery NOT because he sought forgiveness (he didn’t), but because he leads the in-group.
Conservatism demands abject hypocrisy in new situations every single day. Paternalism, misogyny, white supremacy, even the concept of a fair meritocracy, all of these theories are advanced to defend the in-group and perpetuate blatant unfairness.
So, if Walker’s campaign does suffer, it will be for one of two reason:
1. Conservatives have tired of hypocrisy that’s this blatant and embarrassing. (that would be good!)
2. Wealthy black people are temporary members of the in-group at best, & their status can be revoked at any time. (that’s not so good!)
Most likely, Republicans will rally around him and smear the victim, if her name is ever released. He’ll be held up as a sad example of yet another man falsely accused by an ambitious fame-seeking woman, with declarations that men are under attack.
They want that seat and its power, and that’s more important to them than anything else.

This is a GOP candidate for the US Senate
Asked on Tuesday about the school shooting, Herschel Walker said, "What I like to do is see it and everything and stuff."
Dumber than a box of rocks. This is the best the GA GOP can do??
