I just know all the Slytherins love Snape. Like yeah, he's cruel and snarky towards everyone, but to his SNAKES? That's what they call encouragement. If they didn't have Snape berating them (albeit with better intentions than when he berates others) they wouldn't have gotten House Cup 7 years in a row.
What's that? You're struggling with your potion studys? Just pull up to Professor Snapes quarters. You're a first year and you threw up during the night? Just pull up to Professor Snapes quarters!!!
Like yeah he'll be pissed at having to divert his plans just to help you out, but he'll do it. I mean, he'd say it's just because he wants to win the housecup, so he has to nurse the best out of his students... But the truly perceptive can see that little shimmer of fondness in his eyes when a Slytherin makes a near perfect Draught of Living Death, and they can tell when he's marking work if it's made by a Slytherin, because he has these eyes that look like he's scanning for every single mark he can give them.
And of course, the other heads of house feel the same about their students, Snape just happens to be the most suprising one to see patting a fifth years hair after finishing their O.W.L.s
